Life at Life is Golden

The house was perfect for 6 adults and 3 kiddo’s. Full kitchen was a must. The proximity to the ocean and sound were great. Kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub! Yes we would rent it again.

Fun getaway

Great location near enough of life’s conveniences, but quiet at the same time. House has a very well appointed kitchen and comfortable beds. Great views of the ocean and sound from the deck.

Perfect location and a great time!

This is your typical ideal beach house with everything you need. The caretaker, Misty, lives next door and is wonderful! Plenty of outside deck space to relax. The pool and hot tub were great!

Another great stay at Life is Golden

Another great stay at Life is Golden. Although the weather didn’t cooperate we still enjoyed our vacation in the OBX . The house was just as shown in the listing , Grill and deck furniture have been upgraded since our last stay. No complaints and would definitely recommend.

Waves Family Vacation

The house had plenty of space for our party of 7 adults, a teen and two infants. The pool, hot tub and billiard room were great for when we were not out and about. Kitchen and grill were great for meal prep. The central location of Waves makes it more convenient to visit north and south OBX attractions. Sunday check-in/out avoids the Saturday rush. Had a great week.

Great family vacation

The area was perfect for our beach trip with extended family. There were plenty of beach fun accessories available to use which we also left a few additional things behind for the next guests since they will not be used. I really loved the pool area very relaxing. I had no issues at all and it was a nice stress free time with my family. Alex shrimp shack was phenomenal yum. Check it out Also so much to do and see there and the beaches are stunning. Thanks for making the house Available we loved it

Very nice home. The online photos sell it a little short. Nice and clean.

Comfortable. Clean. Well appointed kitchen (suggestion, crab cracker). Pool and Hot Tub were perfect. Other suggestion is that the pressure treated deck and railings need a little TLC. Would stay there again. Very satisfied with this rental.

Great house

We had a blast. My parents drove from Florida. It was so nice to have everyone together. Plenty of space. Kids loved DQ being right across the street. We rented bikes the area was perfect for the little one to ride on. I would absolutely rent this house again. Thanks Steve!!

Home has lots to offer

Home was nice and large enough with plenty of room for our party of 12. Kids loved the pool while others enjoyed the hot tub. Views were great from the top deck and beach was only a 5 minute walk. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and appliances. Overall everyone enjoyed and had a great time. I would rent Life Is Golden again on any future trips we may take.

Wonderful place to stay!

The house impressed us beyond our expectations!! It was nice to have the linens included. The pool was a definite plus!!! The location is great. The walk to the beach was not too far (especially with 2 little girls). The outside decks were nice to watch the sunrise and sunset. There is PLENTY of room in this house and almost every room has it's own bathroom. Easy walk to the Dairy Queen and a couple of restaurants. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for allowing us to stay here!! We would definitely stay here again!!

Relaxing Salvo/Waves Vacation

Life is Golden was a very nice stay for our family and two Grandchildren (9 adults, 2 kids and 2 golden retrievers). Plenty of room, well-appointed kitchen, cozy living room and dining area for the family to get together, eat, play games. Nice decks on two levels and we liked the screened in hot tub. Five minute walk to a nice beach, and a short drive to the ORV access beaches between Salvo and Avon. Steve was easy to communicate with for questions prior to our trip and provided good suggestions where to go and what to do. The decor and theme of the property we enjoyed; you can tell this is a home and not just a rental!

Great home away from home

This was a great home to stay in. I have spent many summers in the OBX area and have always stayed in the Nags Head and KDH areas. This was our first time further south in the Hatteras area, and I can say we fell in love with the area. Steve was available at anytime as well as it was nice to have the care taker next door as well. The home is beautifully laid out the teens were able to their own floor while the adults had theirs. The pool table was great for night time activities and when the weather didn't allow for us yo go outside. The home is located perfectly between the sound and the ocean. I would recommend this location to anyone. Will for sure book again.

Great vacation!

My family and I spent a week at Life is Golden. We had a great time. The kitchen had just about everything you could think of for cooking. We had plenty of room in the house. The pool and hot tub were great. Both were super clean and well maintained. The area is quiet and the sunsets from the upper deck were fantastic! My family had a great time every evening gazing at the stars. We rented a beach cart that was a big help. If you decide to rent one make sure you rent the ones with 16 inch wheels. Thanks to Steve for a great vacation!

Upon entry our friends child found a condom and underwear. The house looked like it had no house keeping done besides sweeping everything under the beds.

Life IS Golden in the OBX

Just home from a wonderfully relaxing week spent at Life is Golden. Lovely home , great location - the home has everything you could want while vacationing . We started the week just me , my husband , and our 15 yr old son - enjoyed beach time , pool time and quality time spent as a family. Mid week we had 2 other couples and 2 more teens join us and the house was roomy enough for everyone to have their own space . The teens loved playing pool every night and claimed that area as their own. It’s a short walk to the ocean with a sandy path leading you over the dunes to the beach - and even though it was Labor Day weekend our stretch of beach was not crowded at all. We used the pool out back every afternoon to cool off after a day at the beach. And evenings were spent on the decks - cocktails and conversation with a nice ocean breeze. We prepared our meals at home and the kitchen is very well stocked and easy to use . Twice during the week we ordered a seafood boil from Austins Seafood (5 minutes away ) - delicious !! We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and are already talking about a return trip next summer to Life is Golden .

Very nice, well stocked house with lots of activities

House was just as pictured...no surprises. We stayed for a week and the weather was not great for several days. Being on a sliver of land out in the ocean is easily affected by wind and weather. BTW...kite flying is highly recommended! The owner had the house set up for just such days. We played 8 ball in the separate pool room, enjoyed the nice outdoor swimming pool then jumped into the covered room hot tub with our favorite drinks. This is a very nice, large place for 6 adults and their children and dogs...we loved the large multi-level decks. A nice propane flat grill was used to prepare some awesome meals in the well stocked kitchen (Food Lion had some great food for preparing and owner provided all necessary cooking utensils...Food Lion was only 20 minutes away). The location is ideal because you can travel north or south and enjoy the restaurants, shopping and fantastic sites. I highly recommend this location for its reasonable price, location, clean, large house and the Owner providing puzzles, games, books...etc. He literally thought of most everything. A charming house and neighborhood with a 5-minute walk to the beach or sound. We hope to go back again!

Good size home with a nice small pool close to the beach

Overall we had a good experience, there were a few issues with the home as far as things not working (TVs) and damages to furniture, deck etc. and having to take care of the laundry that wasn’t complete when we arrived only 20 minutes early (would have taken a couple more hours because the washer and dryer run slow). However with the number of bedrooms, bathrooms we were able to make do. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and utensils (we also brought plenty of plastic ware so not to use the dishwasher much.) The pool is small but it was great to come back to (after rinsing off in the outside showers) after day at the beach! There were lots of things to use outside as far as chairs coolers and things for the beach, however we did not use those because they were a bit nasty from sitting outside for sometime. Overall the house was sufficient and clean and had enough room for all of us. Steve the owner was easy to contact ahead of time to get information in regards to the property and we didn’t bother worrying about any issues while we were there, we had a fun week- visited the aquarium and marina (it’s a small town)! Thanks for the stay look forward to another vacation!

Great location with awesome views of the ocean and sound!

First of all I would like to say I was very apprehensive about renting a pet friendly property. We usually leave our small poodle with a friend. I will say that I was pleased that there was no appearance that a dog or cat had been in the house. The only negative for me was that there was carpet in the bedrooms. I would not let that be a deal-breaker it is just a preference for me. There were 11 of us and the kitchen and living space did not make us feel crowded at all. Bedrooms were roomy and the pool table was a hit with all of us. The hot tub helped tired legs feel better from going up and down the stairs, but that was a small price to pay to be able to enjoy the views from the decks. We had 5 kids with us and they enjoyed the pool after being at the beach all day. There were plenty of chairs for us to relax and watch them play. Also when we arrived I had to call Steve a couple of times and he immediately responded. He is very attentive to his renters needs. So yes I would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again.
