"The rooms were clean. Staff were helpful and cheerful. It was nice that they did not have carpet. The coffee machine that freshly grinds and makes a variety of drinks was a plus. No frills, but very functional."

"The house was very nice and clean. The rooms were spacious.If I could add one thing it would be a tv in master bedroom.I would recommend this house to anyone vacationing on Gaston Lake."

"The house was not clean. There were wet towels in the washer when we arrived. There was a LOT of trash under the sofas. The doors' glass was smeared from dogs and kids. The screened porch needs new screen and doors. The house doors all stick. The downstairs bath door doesn't have a knob or lock that works. We were unable to find a Shell station at I-85 and 903 to drop the trash. There were open, half drunk sodas on the refrigerator door. The refrigerator needs to be cleaned out and cleaned. It could be a really sweet lake house. The house needs a lot of maintenance. We did enjoy the dock and the lake. It was disappointing because you can tell the owners love the place and are very gracious."

"This house was the perfect size and location for our short Labor Day weekend trip. We were two families (4 adults, 3 kids) and there was more than enough room for everyone. We also really enjoyed the location, directly on Lake Gaston and in reasonable proximity to parks and stores. We also liked the stocked kitchen, and everything was available and accessible to use the grill and the kayaks. Our only issues were with cleanliness and the stocking of the bathrooms and kitchen. The place was generally clean (linens, carpet, floors and furniture), but there is some bad staining in both the bathtubs. The bedroom with the bunk beds had the faint smell of cat urine, which was not pleasant. Meanwhile, the bathrooms could have been better stocked. There was only one roll of toilet paper in each and we had to go hunting throughout the house to find hand soap for the sinks. Meanwhile, the kitchen could have been better stocked for actual use — such as more trash bags, paper towels, aluminum foil and dish towels. There was no place to set dishes to dry, but also no towels to dry them. The sponges were also old (new sponges should always be available). Meanwhile, the lights on the dryer control panel don’t work so it’s a guessing game on what settings you’re using. Finally, the area around the kayak launch needs to cleaned up. Lots of trash In the water, esp. So generally, our stay was great overall. There were just some small details that could have been paid better attention to."

"This was one of our best family vacations yet! Having access to Lake Gaston and the layout of the house was wonderful for our 14 member "squad." We had 3 sets of adults upstairs; 3 singles and a "dorm" of teenagers downstairs. So convenient - the kids had a refrigerator and snacks for the mini downstairs kitchen and we had plenty of room in the fabulously appointed kitchen. There wasn't one appliance or utensil we needed that wasn't there, including grill equipment; skewers, bowls, crock pot, baking sheets and pans, etc. Daniel was extremely responsive answering all my questions timely and helpfully. The dock and floats were a big hit and the provided kayaks worked out for all our watersports. My daughter brought her own board and paddled all of the fingers of Lake Gaston in our area. You can't go wrong with the amenities, location, size, layout and overall charm of this house. Best of all, the deck was shaded most of the day, enabling us to sit out without blazing sun. The sunsets were amazing. Can't say enough..."
