Schull Harbour Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Schull is a gem. Loads to do locally with lots of walks/hikes to explore and enjoy, which is why my wife and I were there. There is an abundance of water sports/activities available and the ferry to the islands.Each of the local towns have a trail head, where a number of looped walks start, and there are also walks to the next town where you can get lunch etc before returning to the start. The hotel is directly across the road from the trailhead and a large car park. The food in the hotel excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious, well maintained and recently refurbished. The rooms at the front have spectacular views of the harbour and islands. It is a short drive to neighbouring towns/villages and to the Mizen. It might be a bit of a drive to get there, but I used this as an opportunity to stop along the way and (re)discover this part of west Cork; it did not disappoint, with loads more to discover when I return to the area."

"Our stay at the Emmet Hotel in Clonakilty was truly wonderful, and it became one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with thoughtful design touches throughout. We loved the unique wallpaper in each room, the cozy and welcoming library, and the stunning dining room with its elegant ivy-patterned wallpaper. Every space felt warm, stylish, and inviting - including the two goldfish in the dining room named after the bar keepers! We were fortunate to stay in Room 19, which was absolutely lovely. The room was filled with natural light and featured a charming bay window seat where we could relax and take in the view. A door opened onto a balcony overlooking the church steeple and the town brook, creating a picturesque setting that made our stay feel even more speci What made our stay especially memorable was the exceptional staff. From the front desk team to the housekeeping staff, everyone was genuinely warm, attentive, and kind. The food was outstanding. Breakfast became our favorite meal of the day, and we looked forward to it every morning. Everything was fresh and delicious, the scrambled eggs and french toast will be remember long after our trip. Also try the warm beet salad! The location is perfect - right in the heart of Clonakilty and within easy walking distance of everything in town. The Emmet became our home base for exploring West Cork, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will be back!"

"The property is just as charming as it looks in the pictures. Corcoran's Pod is cozy and perfect for couples. We loved the location as it is about half way between Killarney and Cork and we were visiting both. The hostess, Moira, and her sweet dog Poppy, were very welcoming and friendly. Would absolutely stay again if we get to go back to Ireland in the future!"

"Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens was a real surprise. I did not expect this level of experience. I booked the stay due to location and availability, but I would book again due to how lovely it was. Every part of the stay was ideal. The welcome, the room, the food in the restaurant and at breakfast, the service, the setting and surroundings, the decor and their commitment to sustainability. Nothing was left to chance. The owners and their team have worked hard and given a lot of thought to how they present the property and the service they provide."

"Had a lovely time here. My room view was beautiful of the lakeside. Bed comfy, unfortunately they had a problem with showers which did not work for one day. They handled the problem brilliantly. I was given a complimentary dinner. Much appreciated. Food great and breakfast scrumptious. It was like home from home. Thank you."

Romantic Castle at Roaring Water Bay in West Cork - Weekend special available

"Living even for a short time in a castle is a unique experience. It is just rustic enough to get a feel for castle life and just modern enough to make it comfortable. The grounds are lush and the area is quiet. Otters were on the rocks down by the water at the bottom of the stairs at waters edge. The top floor has an amazing view with lots of glass and a sheltered patio. We had some concerns, but Stephanie was quick to respond. My only criticism would be the bed on middle floor was uncomfortable, it is a futon and I’m sure furnishing a castle must be a challenge. The wifi was perfect."
