The Grey Gull Hotel

8/10 Good

"Lovely clean room, we didn't get a Loch view which was a shame but that's how it is. Room was ideal for our overnight stay Bed was comfortable but strangely small for a "double" bed The one disappearing thing was the lack of plugs in the room, there wasn't one anywhere near the dressing unit, where my wife would of used her hairdryer and straighteners, even with the extension lead we brought, she ended up sitting at the window with a shaving mirror. Not ideal."

The Glenburn Hotel

"I had a sea view and the view was absolutely stunning. The room was good, bed really comfortable and clean, bathroom clean and seemed relatively new. Water pressure not the best but it's an old building. Looked like someone had spilled bleach on the carpet at the bathrrom door but was clean apart from that. Plenty drawers and wardrobe space. I ate in the restaurant one night and it was nice, good choice and tasty. Maybe a bit old fashioned but it fits with the hotel, which is an old character building. A nice terrace at the front to sit and watch the sunset of an evening but limited space. There are a lot of steps at the front up to the hotel (which were blocked off when I was there) or quite a steep hill to walk up the road. Staff all really helpful - opened the sash window for me that I couldn't manage and lovely and friendly in the reastaurant. With such amazing views there really is nowhere better than Scotland when the sun shines and it did!"

Royal Marine Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"I wanted to share how pleased we are with our stays at the Royal Marine Hotel. This was our fourth visit, Jackie and I are returning again this weekend and once more next month, which speaks for itself. The location is perfect for us. We can park the car and head out for the day without any hassle. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and the rooms we have been allocated have been excellent on every visit. We have thoroughly enjoyed each stay and look forward to returning again."

The Gailes Hotel and Spa

8/10 Good

"The place seems to have had the bedrooms upgraded recently. Nice, roomy and comfortable. However, some “smaller details” niggled a bit… The rooms are not very noise proof - snoring on one side, conversations on the other, banging doors, very distracting and sleep preventing. Phone chargers inbuilt into head board did not work. Water pressure poor, affecting wash basin, shower and toilet needing re-flushed. Cooked breakfast not of best quality, and at 9am was not hot on being self-served from hot food holders. Staff really helpful and friendly. We usually use the sister hotel “The Waterside”, decided to try “The Gailes”, but would not return and will go back to The Waterside. Not terrible, pleasant, but the little things were niggly and mounted up - especially as it was a wedding anniversary night away."
