"This place looked like an old hotel that we probably bumped into this very year in a stepping-stone period towards its becoming a proper boutique hotel (perhaps I will go back next year to double check). As a matter of fact the reception was stunning but once you get in your room you have the feeling of having being trown in some kind of B&B that needs a lot of refurbishing asap. Staff was indeed very kind and professional (we left at 6.30 am and they were nice enough to make some breakfast one...

"Excellent stay. Vittorio is a wonderful host. It felt as though we were staying with family. He is very accommodating and accessible when needed. The B&B is super clean and comfortable. Kamer erg basis. 3 dagen achter elkaar .oeten vragen om toiletpapier geen glazen op de kamer om een glas wijn te drinken. Ontbijt was prima voor Italiaanse nirmen We hadden niet het idee dat we te maken hadden met de eigenaar. De bevlogenheid ontbrak. Er werd zeer slecht Engels gesproken. "Struttura ben tenuta con camere spaziose e pulite. Il borgo è spettacolare e si è in una posizione molto comoda per varie gite fuori porta nel territorio. Unica pecca la doccia con tendina, un po' scomoda se si viaggia con i bimbi, ma tutto il resto veramente curato e ben organizzato. "What a lovely hotel with a ton of character! Located at the end of the 'beach strip', it was nice and quiet, with an amazing view of the town, the beach and the coastline. Our room was comfortable, and our view from the balcony was 10 out of 10. There was a mini-fridge in the room stocked with water, but for some reason, guests are not allowed to store their own food or drinks inside (penalty is 5 euros/day) - we found this strange? The staff were super friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was really good - and the eating area had floor to ceiling windows with views of the beach. The pool was nice, warm and clean. Great location, just a 10-minute walk to shopping and restaurants. On Monday morning, there is an open market in the city center that was a lot of fun to visit! Staying at Scalea was definitely one of the highlights of our Italy trip - it was beautiful, quiet, and resort-like. We really enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel De Rose and hope to stay there again."
