The welcoming staff was pleasant, and the reception/breakfast area was clean. The room was not good at all. I think (but don't know for sure) this is because one end of the property is used for those traveling with pets. We came with our small dog, complete with soft crate, her own towels etc. but the room not only displayed obvious, previous dog damage, chewed woodwork and carpet, it was dirty. Vertical surfaces needed cleaning, bathroom door, refrigerator, headboards were grimy, chair upholstery stained. Rooms adjoining were obviously "rented" to at least, part time/ full time residents with animals. It's an old property and the walls were thin so we were treated to "personal/private" noise from the adjoining room. Would have preferred to share this with the staff, however, they are not at the desk full time. Assumption: when one pays a pet fee it provides extra $ for cleaning and repair, guess not. If the walls are thin, put guests in every other room to mitigate noise complaints. Guess not . If you're renting to the less fortunate as a residential hotel, it might be advisable to keep short term guests in a different area. This property is being operated on a shoe string. You get what you pay for or less.
