"Where do I begin with this property? In short if you’ve already booked and aren’t beyond the cancellation window I highly recommend you cancel. If you haven’t booked, please look for another more suitable property. From the beginning communication was challenging with this property. Messages weren’t answered and if they were they were met with one to two word answers. With the fact that the property had no reviews at the time on this site and only one on another site, I requested to speak with the owner on the phone. He was friendly but not very helpful but his friendliness allowed me to put down my guard. I should have cancelled. On the day we arrived we received the entry code from a number from Maine with a recording letting you know that the conversation is being recorded. A little odd. As luck would have it the wrong code was given to us setting off the property alarm and police arrived moments later. A phone call to the Portland Maine number and a conversation between property manager and police cleared that up. Next the heat was sweltering and though ac was advertised there were no ac units. Also only two windows that we came across had screens (the kitchen ones). The yard was flooded and full of mosquitoes so opening the windows would have resulted in bites and possible virus transmission. Moving to the basement there was a terrible decaying fish smell that filled the whole downstairs room where the bunk beds were (and where are six childr"

"The place was absolutely wonderful, exactly what you would expect from the pictures. We especially enjoying sitting out on the back porch and in the hot tub. With that said, a few things to look out for: - None of the AC window units were installed and many of the windows didnt have screens, so the house was 75F our whole stay - the walking paths were completely flooded and unusable, and while I recognize that is not the owners fault, a heads up would have been nice - we had some issues getting the projector in the theater to work - our biggest frustration was the lack of communication from the owner, we didnt hear anything from them until I reached out a few days before our stay to ask for more information about the house, any rules, check in info, etc. Even at that point they refused to give me any information until the day we arrived, and we finally got that information via a phone call a couple hours before our check in time."
