This hotel is a great option with a top location. The room was big enough, the staff very friendly and the included breakfast was a nice feature. The town is tiny and you can walk anywhere, but we discovered a shortcut behind the property that took us to the pier, that was very useful on our way back to Panajachel.

It was a very nice place very quiet. We got there after hours we were able to go in through the back door to the facility. We rang the bell, and the guy gladly came out to help us.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mercy and would definitely recommend it. The location is excellent—just a short walk from Umbrella Street, the main dock, restaurants, cafés, and other popular attractions around Lake Atitlán. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The hotel grounds and gardens are beautiful, creating a peaceful atmosphere, and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Breakfast was included and offered a nice variety of options. The only thing we wish had been made clearer before booking is that the rooms do not have air conditioning or a television. Fortunately, the weather in the area is cool, especially at night, so we never actually needed A/C. However, as travelers who are used to hotels offering air conditioning, it was surprising to arrive and find that it wasn’t available. The hotel also offers free parking, which we appreciated. My only suggestion would be to improve the appearance of the entrance and parking area, as it could benefit from being paved or better landscaped to match the beauty of the rest of the property. Additionally, a couple of the outdoor furniture pieces, while beautiful, needed minor repairs because some nails were exposed. It was great to see that the hotel is expanding and continuing to grow, which speaks well of its future. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily stay here again.

The hotel is nice and customer service is great. One downfall is that you must shower during daylight to get hot water. There is also not much insulation in the walls, and lots of barking dogs around. But for the price its a nice place.

The hotel room was fine and having the free breakfast was really nice. We needed to communicate with them before we arrived due to a flight delay and we were hoping to get a partial refund for one night as it was refundable before a certain date and we couldn’t arrive on the date planned. However, communication with them was next to impossible, which was really stressful and so we couldn’t change the reservation. It was also really noisy outside the hotel overnight due to things beyond their control like fireworks, roosters, and dogs howling, but worth noting you might want to bring earplugs

Lovely family run hotel

This is a nice new hotel in San Juan, and very reasonably priced. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, and the area feels very safe and full of locals. It's a short walk into town or down to the pier. The rooms are large with nice high ceilings and you can sit out on wicker rocking chairs to enjoy the outside. No biting bugs due to altitude so you can relax! It would be nice to have a few hooks in the room to hang towels, coats etc.

We were a little bit sceptical about this hotel because it is relatively new - but we loved our stay and would recommend it! The staff is very kind and helpful; the hotel has recently introduced free breakfast coffee, which is delicious and made to order. It is very well located to the centre of San Juan and it has a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. It’s clear that the staff are still working on improving the hotel but there is no active construction going on right now. The shower was not very hot, and did not drain very well, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!

The hotel was undergoing construction during my stay. This was obviously undisclosed and taking place right above my head, starting in the very early hours of the morning. Every time we tried to talk to someone about it to see if they could move us to a new room where it wasn't above our heads, they would say that that day was the last day construction was happening. This wasn't true. The showers are also dodgy with wires showing. The hot water didn't work for half of our stay. They did try to fix it, but then it would only work if the pressure was down extremely low. We still didn't get an offer to switch rooms.

The hotel itself was lovely, but our door was hard to close. You had to really slam it for it to lock. It would have been nice to have coffee and breakfast available in the morning. I had to go out and try to find coffee in fhe morning. Most other places in the area offer free breakfast included in the price of the room. Otherwise it was nice.

They overcharged for our laundry service by four times the amount. There was hair in the room on the floor like it was uncleaned. The front desk recommendation a company for indian nose hike that picked us up at the hotel. IT WAS a single man in a tuc Tuc that took us up the mountain in the dark. We walked up the mountain in the woods in the dark full of trash. He made us walk thirty feet of head going up the mountain and never even knew how to get to Indian Nose. Even though he said he does this every day.It felt like we were gonna be robbed until we told him we had a knife and knew how to fight and was a boxer. He was messaging people in the woods. And took us almost down the wrong path on the way back down the mountain and was holding sticks in his hand that were two feet long. We felt Very unsafe.
