Avania Inn of Santa Barbara

"We stayed to be close to all the walkable seafood restaurants. Our room was clean, but our room stunk of cigarettes. We alerted the front desk and were offered an air purifier. But, we think the carpets probably need a deep clean, maybe a new coat of paint. However, the room seemed recently renovated. People need to stop smoking in a Non Smoking room. We never asked to be moved. The location is excellent, only a short walk to the Wharf and lots of activities. We weren't impressed with the sugar breakfast. All carbs and a coffee machine that spits out terrible coffee and fake cream in a pre packaged cup. Yuck. On The Alley has great, inexpensive breakfast sandwiches and GREAT coffee. Chad's is also close with high quality, but more expensive, options. We did both. At minimum, the Avania should offer a healthy protein and decent cup of coffee with real cream or milk."

"Overall it was an excellent hotel with wonderful staff. It was a little dated and run down but had great amenities and had a super location. It is very walkable and right across from a nice clean beach. I would definitely stay again."

"The location is the best part…walkable to the wharf, funk town, beach, restaurants and tasting rooms. Room was renovated but small. These are renovated motel rooms which we didn’t love that layout but the majority of the accommodations in SB are Inns or Motels. Staff were nice and helpful. Pool is at the motel next door. Bikes are a lil run down, Breakfast was nice…they partner with local bakery shops and provide delicious pastries and bagels. The coffee was smooth and tasty. They have dairy free creamer…just ask for it. Overall, it worked for the night, but I wouldn’t stay there for a longer stay."
