Very convenient and friendly place. They overdid a bit with the Lysol but that aired out quickly. Surprisingly quiet which might have been a function of the fellow guests' behavior. Very spacious and clean studio. Staff very friendly.
Very clean room and pleasant manager on site. Free parking and close to many food places along with Walgreens across the street. Would recommend 10/10!
My room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location was quite and there was plenty of on-site parking. I needed somewhere to stay near the harbor and this was perfect, only a 7 minute drive.
We have now stayed three times in the last two months. Each stay a different room. All were clean and well appointed. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We will stay there again. Next visit coming soon.
Great little motorcourt motel! The gentleman at the front desk was so friendly and helpful (gave us good directions to walk to the beach and suggested restaurants nearby to eat at). The motel is a 45 min walk to the beach/marina but the neighborhood is very safe day and night and it's quiet too.
I love the little gardens infront of each room and spent part of the evening sitting there on the patio chairs. The room has a bedroom area and a separate kitchen too with nice appliances and a nice new counter, great for eating and storing food. FYI there are no pots or dishes (we had our own). So either bring your own or make sure to bring utensils from the restaurant. Parking was plentiful. Definitely would come back again.
Absolutely Love This Place! Stay here every time I am in town and recommend it to everyone I know. This is a family friendly place to stay where you can still have family dinners while on vacation. Amazing Owners who remember you and warmly welcome you on your return ❤️
This place is great. Big, clean room. Quiet spot. Easily accessible. It would be very easy to miss because it’s an older motel, but it was clear from the nice cars in the parking lot that we weren’t the only people who felt like they found a great place for the purpose. I’ve stayed before, and I’ll likely stay again next time I want to do a weekend in the area.
The manager of the hotel was very welcoming and helpful. The property is an older property, but has been upgraded and taken care of. The room we stayed in was clean. It did, however, need some refreshing to the paint and furnishings. Unfortunately, during our stay we had loud neighbors on both sides. I spoke with the manager, and he was responsive and helpful.
This is my second time staying here at the Hitching Post. The room I got this time was with a king size bed and a kitchenette which I did not expected but definitely a plus. My partner and I really liked the location and it's close to nearby restaurants and shops. The only minor critique I have are the bed sheets, they felt like paper. Suggestion to the property owners, the shower needs a plastic curtain lining behind the fabric one because it absorbs too much shower water and leaks out onto the floors. The bed was good because I slept like a log. Overall, this was a pretty good stay. I'll continue to book in the future.
Staff was genuinely kind and helpful. Decent price, great stay. Every room has a full kitchen with a fridge, microwave and a stove. Theres even a kitchen table. 9 mins from the boardwalk. 5/5
The room and bed didn’t feel clean. The floor was sandy, there was an old soap in the shower, the sheets and blanket was kinda hard n old. Air conditioner was dirty.
But… the room and shower were nice; except the a/c is pointed right at the head of the bed.
It’s a good room for $70 a night

A little off the beaten path from the boardwalk and town, but quiet and safe. Clean. Bedding made us wish we brought our own pillows and blankets however. Super basic and lightweight. Staff made check in easy. Decent spot for one night.
Hitching Post came through for me again. They are now my go-to for expeditions to Santa Cruz. Convenient location, great prices.

Old place- fine for a night or two. Seemed safe, was clean- just dated. Typical for Santa Cruz motel vibe, people running the place were nice and helpful.
