Casa Keam is a peaceful private retreat set in the hills of Santana

  • Casa Keam is the orange villa on the hillside above Santana, on Madeira’s north coast. You book the entire home — three bedrooms, two and a half baths, room for six.

    Ocean on one side, mountains on the other. PR1.1 starts across the street. The village and the Theme Park are a short drive down the hill. Funchal is about 35 minutes when you want the city.

    The house is bright and quiet. The living room has a fireplace, two sofa beds, and a terrace. The master has an ensuite. The guest room and the twin room each look out to the hills. There is a private gym (bench and pull-up bar) and a rooftop over the valley.

    The kitchen is fully equipped. Parking and an EV charger are at the house. Pets are welcome for a fee — say so when you book.

    Check-in after 3:00 pm. Checkout by 11:00. RNAL 77033/AL.

Coming to this property from an urban residential neighborhood, from the moment you pull into the driveway you have to stand there and take in the view of the valley in front of you. Starting and ending my day opening and closing the curtains while there is still the thing I am missing after returning home. Sitting on the rooftop patio along with the large windows throughout the house always gave me feeling of being away from my urban environment and truly being on vacation.
