The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the world in so many ways, and travel has changed with it. These tips will help you navigate the new challenges and prepare you for your journey to Santiago:

• Understand what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so be sure to check before you lock in your flight.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it to confirm your identity. Anyone refusing to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Put any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and wallet) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you want to take food through the security checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
