The island is now a haven for peace and quiet, but this wasn’t always the case. It was a major volcanic eruption that formed the moon-shaped basin that makes up the island of Santorini,3,600 years ago. The island was shaken again by a severe earthquake in 1956, which lead to the destruction of many ancient buildings. During the subsequent reconstruction, however, the style of the original architecture was closely followed to ensure the island didn’t lose its unique character.
Fira is the capital of Santorini, a major cruise port and the best spot on the island for a nice dinner and a night out. The charming Oia is one of Santorini's oldest villages, located on the northernmost tip of the island and is a perfect spot for a photo of the iconic white houses - the spectacular sunsets have been able to inspire many artists. In the village of Pyrgos you’ll find churches with blue domes, old taverns, houses and a 15th-century castle – great for history lovers.
Santorini also has a large number of beaches. Sunbathe on the island’s black sandy beaches at Perivolos and Perissa, while Mesa Pigadia and Pori are the best places to admire the rugged, rocky coastline.
Santorini's climate is pleasant all year round. The average daytime temperature in the summer is 29 ° C and 15 ° C in winter. Not surprisingly, some regions of the island can get very busy during the summer peak season. But that doesn’t mean your trip to Santorini will be anything less than unforgettable.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The area was clean and the pool was nice. The area was within walking distance of restaurants. The beds were a little stiff and only one pillow but besides that everything was pleasant.
Rochabella When booking the hotel in Santorini, our last stop on our holiday in Greece we wanted everything. Great and uninterrupted caldera view, 4 or 5* hotel, away from crowds, central, bus access, large room and on and on! It took a week of searching options before we settled on the Roccabella. ...
I was nervous booking this as there were no reviews but I was so pleased I did. As you expect with a new hotel everything is sparkly and in perfect condition. We had a sunset floor 1 room which was ideal. The breakfast was great, loads of lovely fresh fruits and delicious local produce like Greek ...
We loved the property, the entire staff and team...amazing breakfast, and the views!!!! Wished there was a ladder at the middle pool (floor 0), and ceiling fans would’ve been great. Can’t wait to return!
Great resort with excellent facilities, unfortunately it's over the flight path
It’s a 10 minute walk outside Oia which gives you the peace and quiet during the day and the bustle of the busy town if you want it .
