"Great location, nice hotel, lots of areas to congregate and chat"

"Our first impression of the hotel was relatively positive. We travel a lot in Europe and liked the style and vibe of the hotel which remind us a lot of the towns in the Alps. However, the property is really outdated and needs a gut renovation, although the location is good. Specific reasons we give a poor rating: 1. The shower is terrible. It is impossible to control the temperature. It was either burning hot or freezing cold. 2. We asked the front desk to borrow an umbrella because it was pouring. Given that the hotel is supposedly a 4-star hotel, which we typically stay at, the front desk told us "they do not lend out umbrellas and suggested that we buy one from the gift shop". Ok. However we turned around and another staff member offered another guest next to us an umbrella. We were dumbfounded and honestly very irritated. We will not recommend this hotel."

Prescott House ADK

2/10 Terrible

"We felt uncomfortable the minute we walked into Prescott House. The neighborhood coming up to the property is run down. The grounds are messy and the entrance is filthy. The basement with the kitchen has a bad smell to it. We found our room uninviting and the photos deceptive. We realized that I made a mistake booking Prescott House and decided to forfeit three prepaid nights just so we could get out of there. Later we requested a partial refund for two nights and they were unwilling to compromise. Not a good experience."

The Whiteface Lodge

"We’ve stayed here many times and generally have a great stay. This stay, we opted to pay an additional $85 for a two hour late check out. From 11am- 1 pm, the front desk called to ask why we hadn’t left, we were interrupted by two different individuals on three occasions knocking on the door asking why we hadn’t left, then came back asking what time out late check out was. The room key wouldn’t work after noon. It was a huge disappointment when we wanted to enjoy a relaxing morning with no urgency."
