Road trip
We enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and well located. There were some mice running about and we did find droppings in the bed, although the house was otherwise very clean and well appointed. We would have liked some coffee left in the cabinet at least for the first morning and the bedroom could use some hooks for clothes or coats. Otherwise it's well stocked with kitchenware etc. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating area for coffee or wine and cheese. And it was a quick easy walk into town. The owner was quick to answer my questions and easy to work with.

Fabulous location

Lovely property, very well equipped and clean. Five minute walk down steps and a path into the centre of Sarlat. Very convenient. Clearer instructions on how to locate the property would be helpful. Good parking down the steep driveway, best to reverse. Sophie answered any queries I had very quickly by email.

Fabulous house in a great location!
Sophie’s house was very pretty, extremely well equipped and spacious. It was only a short walk into the centre of Sarlat and there was plenty of outside space and garden furniture. It is little difficult to find as it is hidden down the driveway so a direction map would be useful. However, this did not detract from a wondeful stay. Highly recommended!!

Another fantastic stay chez Sophie
We returned to this lovely property after two fantastic weeks last year, and had another amazing two weeks. The location is indeed literally five minutes from the centre of Sarlat, great for getting breakfast croissants and pains au chocolat from the market. The kitchen is excellently equipped compared to the average holiday let, which was great for making meals when not eating out. The house is surprisingly roomy, and was great for our family of four with 16 and 14yr old boys. Sarlat is a perfect location for a holiday - swimming and kayaking/canoeing nearby on the Vezere (gorgeous!) and Dordogne (equally gorgeous but more people) were particularly great in the heat. Sophie was a fantastic, helpful and friendly host once again. Merci beacoup!

Sophie’s place
Sophie’s house was a perfect place for two couples. There was lots of space and it was well equipped. The location is great. It is a short walk to the centre of the town via a walking path. Although it is close to the city centre it feels very rural and is quiet. We had beautiful weather so we enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner out on the patio.

Wonderful Place to Stay in Sarlat
We are on an extended vacation in France during May. We have stayed in several great VRBOs along the way, the the property in Sarlat is head and shoulders above the rest. Sarlat is a beautiful medieval town with a thriving old town center with shops, restaurants, brasseries, and wonderful fresh bread, cheese, and vegetables. The problem is that parking in town is a nightmare. When we first came to Sarlat, before we could get into the VRBO property, we had to park about a 20 minute downhill walk from city center. That was OK but the 40 minute walk uphill was really difficult. The VRBO property has its own parking spot (if your brave enough to back down the driveway) but is only a short walk down to city center. It was like stying in our own little French villa. The house is immaculate and very beautifully appointed. It has a good-sized kitchen and two big bedrooms. I rate this property as one of the top VRBO properties at which I’ve ever stayed. Very highly recommend this one.

Fabulous position
A wonderful position right above the centre of Sarlat,, just five minutes walk down a little path. The gite was beautifully clean and welcoming with everything one needs. There are no hanging facilities in the second bedroom, not even a rail to hang a shirt on, and oddly enough, three of the lamps had no globes in them. Sophie was helpful and welcoming and guided us to the house which is a bit hard to find. A great place to stay when visiting lovely Sarlat.

Storybook house overlooking the rooftops of Sarlat
We loved staying in this charming house. In peak season its location a bit up and away from the hub of activity would be greatly appreciated as the only noises we heard were a bit of rain and birds singing. A ten minute walk to town with a darling terrasse both front and back. The beamed ceilings and all of the furnishings have so much character! Sophie was lovely and gave us a list of suggested restaurants in the area. Giving the house a name (such as Reve de Sophie) would make it easier to find it initially as there is no house number. It is just above Parking DesMourets. We highly recommend it!!

Lovely stay in beautiful Sarlat
It is apparent that Sophia has lovingly developed this property with apparent style. There are so many details that we appreciated but for many travelers I think the location, just steps above the old city, outdoor deck with city rooftops view and privacy, the beautiful and comfortable interior, well appointed kitchen, deep bathtub and comfortable beds all made our stay most enjoyable. Sophia was very helpful with questions and a plus was meeting her and her two adorable children. Better up front directions on how to find the house is the only improvement I would recommend. Brava Sophia! Et merci beaucoups for sharing your home.

A wonderful home a short walk to the heart of Sarlat
This is a fantastic property if you enjoy being close to the city center, but still want some peace and quiet. The home overlooks the city and is right on a walking path to the city center, less than 10 minutes away. The home is fully equipped and can handle several guests. The host was very helpful with recommendations for local restaurants and area sites. We loved this place and would be happy to return for a longer stay.

Wonderful house in fantastic location
We had a fantastic stay at Sophie's lovely house in Sarlat. The location is exactly as described, really close to the historic centre of town via an alleyway with steps, literally a 5 minute walk. The house was perfect for us two adults with 15 & 13yr old boys, we felt completely at home for the two weeks that we stayed in Sarlat. The kitchen was really well equipped, and the washer/dryer new and efficient, with a drying rack provided so that we could get our kit washed and dried easily after each new adventure. It was lovely to have a choice of the decent-sized dining table or the equally well-sized outside patio table (with sun shade) for family meals. The blackout blinds on the upstairs velux windows were great for keeping any hot sun out in the day. Sophie herself was was very friendly and helpful, coming to show us the way to the house when we arrived in Sarlat, and to give us a guided tour of the house. She was also really prompt and helpful answering any queries we had, as well as recommending places to eat, and letting us know when market days were - an excellent host, thank you for an amazing holiday!

The perfect location

Lovely house - very easy access to the town
We stayed here 3 years ago and enjoyed it so much that we decided to come back again, the beauty of Sophie’s house is it’s easy access to the town without needing to take the car. We love the Dordogne and hopefully we will return again some time..

Very French house in perfect location
This is an adorable very French house that is along a foot path that leads right into the town is 5 minutes. The kitchen is well equipped although we did not cook. I was there with my two sisters and we stayed 3 nights. We sat outside on the terrace or in the backyard "grotto" in the evenings. It was very pleasant. We were fortunate not to have to use our car because it turned out to be a holiday weekend and Sarlat was crowded. The place was a little difficult to find when we first arrived because the address will not be found on google maps. The host, Sophie, talked to us on the phone to direct us, and then her mother met us to show us where to park (right next to the house) and showed us around the property. Sophie sent us recommendations for local restaurants and that was much appreciated. The first night we went to Le Regent and had a nice experience. We do not eat duck or foie gras so the local cuisine was wasted on us, but these dishes are available everywhere in Sarlat. There were minor communication issues but they were the result of us not knowing much French. I recommend this house highly for your Sarlat visit. Sarlat is beautiful. You can spend a day in the town exploring its history and going to the market, and it is also centrally located for visits to Beynac and the other villages (I strongly recommend hiring a guide for a half or full day) and to Lascaux.

Great home base for touring Perigord by car
We loved everything about this magical stone house and it is located just above the medieval section of Sarlat. Our host, Sophie, was charming and helpful. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the clothes washer/dryer was speedy and efficient. Good for one couple with kids or two singles. Bathrooms are a bit spartan, but everything works.

God Bless Sophie and her Mother!
We were a little late getting to the property and Sophie tried to explain the various things we needed to know including the WiFi, the washer and dryer and how to lock the door. The later turned out to be a little problematic for (our issue) and when we called two days later, Sophie asked her mom to come over and explain it to us again. It was a simple solution! The house itself is beautiful and very clean. We would recommend this property!

Really enjoyed our stay
Our first visit to the Dordogne. The house was beautiful and very well equipped. We will definitely return at some stage. Our only suggestion would be that there is some notification somewhere of things like the WiFi code and password which I had to contact the owner to find out where to look for it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - really easy access to the town but away from the crowds.

We were very impressed with the cottage. Two markets during our five day stay - Saturday general and the Wednesday food market is impressive. The walk into the ancient city is just a few minutes long and many historic sites within a short drive. Excellent accommodation.

Ideal in every way
Not a lot I can add that hasn't already been said. The location can't be beat - less than 5 min walk via footpath to ţhe centre of town. Two nicely furnished terraces in the front and rear of the house. Lots of room on the main and upper floors and ţhe thick walls keep the temperature inside pleasant. We really appreciated the large, fully-equipped kitchen also. Parking is on site and easy to get in/out of town. The owner was very helpful and has really gone out of her way to make this as carefree a stay as possible. Highly recommend.

The location is hard to beat. The brief walk to town was great, yet it was so quiet at night. Rooms had enough space and fans worked great at night. Would not mind a king sized bed in one room.

Charming house, great location
We stayed here for three nights and the house is as charming as it appears in the photos. Two beautiful bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms and laundry facilities. It is literally a two minute walk down steps and a narrow pedestrian street to the edge of the medieval city. The walk back up isn't bad at all and it's under five minutes. It's lovely to be able to leave the car parked here and walk into town (although the driveway is a very steep slope down). Sophie is a delightful host and went out of her way to bring batteries for a scale so we could check the weight of a suitcase. It was perfect for our family but the steep winding stairs could be an issue with young children.

A lovely house in a brilliant location
We had a wonderful holiday in Sarlat. The house has been tastefully renovated and decorated so it combines a lovely cottage feel with all mod cons. It's a two bedroomed house with a fantastic, large open plan space downstairs. There's a great, well-equipped kitchen and one of the nice bathrooms has a bath, which is not always a given. There's a terrace overlooking the rooftops which gets the afternoon sun and there's plenty of space in the garden too. The house is brilliantly positioned on a hillside overlooking the town, but a little alley way means you can walk down to the town centre in two minutes. The location and the fact that the house is detached gives a nice, secluded feel while still being in easy reach of the restaurants and shops of the beautiful old town. Although a car is necessary if you want to get out into the countryside and see other villages, my husband and I managed perfectly well without a car - arriving by train from Bordeaux and leaving via bus to Souillac. Our host was prompt and charming in dealing with our queries at booking stage and very helpful and thoughtful in making our stay comfortable and relaxing. Thoroughly recommended.

Une maison confortable et bien placée
Le gite est très bien placé juste au dessus du coeur historique de Sarlat, accessible en 3' à pieds. Confortable en conditions automnales et parfaitement propre, nous étions ravis. Sarlat est un point de départ vers de nombreuses visite à moins de 30' en voiture dans la région (Lascaux, Castelnaud, Beynac, accrobranches, etc.). Juste une précision : le terrain de la maison est (comme on peut l'imaginer si proche du centre) assez réduit, et ne permet pas vraiment de jouer avec de jeunes enfants : plutôt de grandes terrasses probablement très agréables en été !

Liebevoll eingerichtetes altes Bauernhaus mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Grosse Wohn- und Schlafräume, Bad und WC auf beiden Etagen sowie eigener Parkplatz vor dem Haus. Besonderes Highlight: grosse Terrasse, umgeben von Grün und in absoluter Ruhe mit Treppe in die Altstadt. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder!!

Hübsches Landhaus für entspannten Urlaub im Perigord
Super Lage im historischen Stadtzentrum von Sarlat, das über einen Fußweg mit 42 Stufen in 5 Minuten zu erreichen ist. Komplett und zeitgemäß ausgestattete Küche, gemütliches Wohnzimmer. Nur die Esszimmerstühle sind unbequem. Wegen des launischen Aprilwetters konnten wir die schöne Terrasse mit den bequemen Liegen und Gartenstühlen nicht nutzen. Die ersten 3 Tage konnten wir den Fernseher nicht benutzen, was nicht schlimm war. Leider ging auch das WLAN nicht, was schon ärgerlicher war. Die überaus sympathische Vermieterin Sophie gab sich aber jede erdenkliche Mühe, um den Fehler zu beheben. Danke für den Aufenthalt, Sophie!

La maison de Sophie est très propre et très bien située : au calme sur les hauteurs et tout près du centre ville de Sarlat. Nous avons apprécié le petit cadeau de bienvenue, les bonnes adresses de Sophie, la propreté de la maison, les 2 SDB (très propres et fonctionnelles), le BBQ, les équipements (il ne manque rien !) et la clim dans une des 2 chambres. Cela a contribué à notre agréable séjour à Sarlat. Tous les équipements fonctionnent très bien. Au RDC, la température était fraîche ce qui était appréciable par cette canicule. Le séjour était parfait !

Il n'y a pas grand chose à ajouter aux autres commentaires, tous positifs, déjà postés pour cette location. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans une jolie maison, propre et fort bien équipée. Sa situation est un point fort, à 5 minutes du centre de Sarlat, par l'escalier tout proche. Nous pouvons aussi mettre en avant le bon accueil et l'extrême gentillesse de la propriétaire des lieux ! Un point peut-être à améliorer, un petit aménagement de la terrasse arrière, avec salon de jardin, pour la rendre plus accueillante.

Schönes Haus in unschlagbarer Lage über der Altstadt
Wir können die vielen positiven Bewertungen zur Lage, Ausstattung, Sauberkeit und Komfort des Hauses in jeder Weise bestätigen. Eine kleine Einschränkung gibt es für die Außenbereiche (Terrassen, Wege, Gartenmöbel, Grill), die bei unserem Aufenthalt etwas vernachlässigt wirkten. Die Kommunikation mit Sophie, der Vermieterin, war virtuell aber nett und problemlos. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung.

Séjour parfait
La propriété est idéale pour qui veut résider dans Sarlat et profiter de la région. Une ravissante maison parfaitement équipée (cuisine, salle de bains, machine à laver et sèche linge) , avec un jardin, à 5 minutes pied du centre ville de Sarlat. Très facile pour se garer, soit une place devant la maison, soit dans le parking à côté. La maison a beaucoup de cachet avec ses poutres apparentes La literie est très confortable et le linge fourni de qualité. Nous recommandons vivement. Vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés.
