About this property

17th-century Engadin soul, lovingly restored — your Alpine home awaits.

  • Some places hold time differently. Chasa 32 is one of them.

These stone walls were first laid in the 17th century, when Engadine traders and merchants crossed the Alps between Switzerland and Italy — bringing home new ideas, new craftsmanship and a way of building that became entirely their own. The delicate sgraffiti decorating the houses of Guarda — fine patterns etched into layer upon layer of plaster — are their legacy, still telling their stories on every facade centuries later.

In 2017, Chasa 32 was restored with the care that old houses deserve. Nothing of its soul was lost — the vaulted ceilings, the massive stone walls, the quiet permanence of a building that has outlasted everything. Beneath the surface, everything was gently renewed: underfloor heating for cold mountain mornings, a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi. The rest is history — quite literally.
Guarda itself feels like a village the modern world politely agreed to leave alone. No through traffic, no noise — just cobblestone lanes, carved wooden doors, flower boxes spilling colour against ancient stone, and a valley view that stops you mid-sentence every single time. It is the home of Schellen-Ursli, Switzerland's most beloved children's story, and the gateway to some of the finest hiking in the entire Alpine arc — from gentle meadow trails to the wild, soaring terrain around the 3,312-metre Piz Buin.

Return each evening to 95 m² of warmth and comfort for up to 6 guests: three double bedrooms with darkening blinds for deep Alpine sleep, a generous open-plan living, dining and kitchen area where dinners tend to go long and conversations longer — and a garden terrace made for the golden hour.

And if you're bringing a dog — wonderful. Guarda was made for them too. Clean mountain streams, car-free lanes, forest trails without end. In winter, no salt on the roads. On New Year's Eve, nothing but church bells.

Come as guests. Leave as something more.

Guarda sits on a sunny terrace above the Engadine valley — celebrated for its historic houses, peaceful atmosphere and unspoiled nature. Hiking trails, bike routes, idyllic fire pits and the Swiss National Park are right on the doorstep. In winter, world-class ski resorts are within easy reach; the Bogn Engiadina thermal baths in Scuol offer the perfect end to a mountain day. A village shop open daily and charming local restaurants complete the picture.

We wish you a wonderful stay. We do our best to anticipate your needs — and for everything else, your questions are always welcome.
