Relaxing retreat

Gorgeous location, serene surroundings, breathtaking views. I should have brought our binoculars, there were so many birds, it was wonderful. It was the perfect spot to just sit back and relax.

We had a great long 4th of July weekend at Mikes cottage! The fireworks were awesome on the lake. The cottage was very updated and had everything we needed! We would definitely like to plan another trip next year!

Not the best trip I have had

I booked this cottage as a surprise birthday trip for my best friend, who has stage 4 cancer, to visit Crystal Lake—a place she’s always dreamed of seeing. Unfortunately, I later discovered there are over a dozen Crystal Lakes in Michigan, and this wasn’t the one on her bucket list. That was our mistake, but things only got harder from there.We arrived at midnight after a long drive to find a hole in one of the bedroom doors, which I immediately reported to the host. When I went to make up the pull-out couch for myself, I realized there were no sleeping pillows or a comforter—just some couch cushions and a couple of small throw blankets. We were all exhausted trying to get our daughters to sleep. The host responded the next morning suggesting we check the bedroom closets for extra bedding, but our rooms didn’t even have closets. I had already checked under the beds and found only sheets—no comforter.Later, I searched the outdoor shed and found two large comforters in clear trash bags that didn't smell clean. I ended up washing them just to get a decent night’s sleep, which was far from the experience we were hoping for.To top things off, my daughter got sick in the middle of the night, and we decided to check out a day early. I informed the host, but the next morning I still received standard checkout instructions. As a business owner myself, I believe in prompt communication and being aware of guest changes—especially when they’ve clearly had a difficul
