"Hotel’s onsen as shown in the website pictures are for members only. Only basic dormitory style rooms were offered with public bath which had water pressure problem that 2 cannot wash at the same time. The bath uses regular, non-hot spring water which only open from 800-2000. No hot water in the dormitory bathrooms.
Hotel is well equipped with gym and game room however for members only. Wish more clarification on the booking sites for this. "

"The property is small and lovely. The juxtaposition of the noisy chaos of Tokyo, with this relaxing oasis was just what we needed. The staff were so helpful and communicative. The food was delicious and the private onsens were absolutely beautiful. There isn’t much to do in the area but we didn’t mind because the hotel itself is hard to leave. "
"This hotel was a great little find. Very affordable and comfortable. A business hotel so they had laundry service in Japanese public bath on site. Matsumoto is a cute little town and very walkable from the hotel. Also, the hotel is literally two blocks from Matsumoto castle, a great location."
"The room was lovely and had lots of complimentary items. Highly recommend the breakfast, very yum and the staff are very friendly. Convenient location to the Zengoji Temple too. "
"This hotel offers the best value for money of all the places I stayed during my trip to Japan. I had originally planned to stay for only three nights but ended up canceling my bookings in Niigata and extending my stay by two more nights because it was so comfortable.
Nagano’s water quality is exceptional — the shower water is incredibly soft, and I could immediately notice the difference compared to Tokyo. The hotel’s breakfast quickly became the highlight of my day. I really needed more vegetables and fruits during my trip, but since Nagano’s restaurants tend to serve mostly carbohydrate-heavy dishes, this breakfast was a lifesaver.
The staff here are also outstanding — they go out of their way to accommodate travelers. Guests can even rent bicycles from the hotel to explore the city. Its location is within walking distance of the train station, and for those heading to Hakuba or Togakushi, there are always shuttle buses available from the station."
You can spend time exploring the galleries in Nishizawa Piggy Bank Museu during your trip to Chikuma. Visit the temples and shops in this walkable area.
