"This hotel is well situated with public transportation within steps. Front staff, could not have been more friendly and accommodating, the bellboy was absolutely delightful. Household staff needs more supervision. We stayed 4 nights there was an issue with the elevators and housekeeping staff would literally shove their equipment and themselves into an already full elevator, pushing people to the walls. No apology's, no greeting just surely glares. The elevators do need some updating. We did enjoy comfortable beds, bathrobes and good towels. We will definitely stay at this hotel again."

"Our room was only set up for 2 people and we had 4 people staying in a Harbour view room with a designated sitting area that had only 1 chair! We paid a lot of money to stay there and felt it was not worth the money we paid. Room was very dated and did not even have a small microwave and there was no designated area for the kettle and coffee maker and the cords did not reach so we had to plug them in on the floor!"

"This hotel is listed as a 5-star, but I couldn't disagree more. I am not sure who is doing staff training, but it needs to be re-evaluated because there is so much room for improvement. For a 5-star hotel, the staff were generally unhelpful, not proactive and had a "no mentality" i.e. would default to saying "no" without offering any alternatives or suggestions, and leaving it on the guest to come up with a solution. It started my stay on a bad note, and all throughout, this was a consistent theme. The property itself is beautiful and well-maintained, but in good faith, I could not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a true 5-star experience. I would recommend the other nearby luxury properties instead, such as Fairmont Pacific Rim and Hyatt Downtown Alberni, which have provided consistent 5-star service and care. To the Sutton Place Vancouver HR: a 5-star hotel is not only based on how nice the property is, but on the service quality and care that guests receive, and that really falls short here."

"There was a very strong smell of an industrial type cleaner in the room. Very old carpet. Stove very old and falling apart. Window latch not working properly. Air conditioner behind window drapes. Temporary floor covering in front of the elevator. Overall a very poor stay in a hotel that was misrepresented in the advertising. I will never go back there."
