Quiet Getaway
We really enjoyed the secluded location. It felt just far enough away but also easy to get to the cities nearby. We had a few issues with bugs, but nothing unexpected for mountain life. The kitchen was well stocked and the wifi worked surprisingly well during our stay. This was great for our girls trip and we would definitely come here again!

Great Stay
Carla takes hospitality to an all new high for us. We had everything we could possibly need and more. Cabin is secluded with hiking trails right no the property, unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate so we couldn’t take full advantage but our kids love the cabin, the air hockey table provided lots of entertainment, they loved the bunk beds and for adults there was a bottle of wine waiting and coffee was supplied. We hope to come back some day when the weather is better. I would recommend a stay here if you’re ever in the Shenandoah Valley 11 out of 10. Thank you so much.

Great cabin in a great location. This was our group's second time here and we loved the cozy interior, easy access to the hiking trail, and well equipped kitchen. The host was fantastic and went above and beyond to make the experience easy. Can't wait to come back!

Columbus Day Weekend
We had a very relaxing long weekend! I thought we lived in a rural area in northeastern PA, but this cabin is really tucked away! We really enjoyed walking around the property, nearby trail, and surrounding roads. Our favorite part was the moss covered trail behind the cabin. We drove to Shenandoah National Park two of the days, which was about 20-30 minutes each way (not bad). After hiking all day, we drank hot chocolate and watched movies. The master bed and bedding were SO comfortable! My kids said their beds were comfortable as well. The kitchen had everything we needed. We bought our groceries and cooked each night. My only suggestion would be to add a hook or towel rack in the downstairs bathroom. It looked like that bathroom had been recently renovated, so I could understand if you'd rather not put anything on the walls. It was just tricky finding a place to hang the towels after a shower. The upstairs bathroom was very nice as well. I've thought about our fall getaway several times since October 2023. In the future, I would love to visit on a snowy winter weekend. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your lovely cabin! 5 stars :)

This is a wonderful cabin. Surprisedly well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, tons of space, huge TVs on both levels, owner made sure to leave creature comforts around such as throw blankets, toiletries, etc. Would definitely stay again.

Relaxing Getaway
This was our second trip to the cabin as a family of five. Everything was just as expected. The cabin was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Being the first of January, it was cold outside but the cabin was cozy and plenty of quality throw blankets lying around was a nice touch. We walked on the nearby trails each day and enjoyed the sunrise from the front porch. Our teenagers enjoyed having their own space downstairs to hang out and play air hockey. We will definitely be returning.

Family gateway
Perfect place for our annual new year family gateway. We travelled with our two year old twins and 3 dogs. It was exactly what we needed , private and secluded but close enough to stores and restaurants if needed.

This is a great little getaway tucked away in the woods. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything my family of 5 and i needed. This was the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept in! I'll be coming back to this one for sure.

Greatest Cabin Ever
Lost our usual Hunting cabin. Found the Half Moon cabin and to my surprise was really a great find, couldn't have found a better one. It is clean, comfortable, and all the comforts of home. Really a must stay if you're looking for a quiet out of the way of the hustle bustle. Great place.

Stayed for a few nights for Thanksgiving - the kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc - lots of spaces to hang out, really comfortable. The front porch is a great place to hangout and take in the view. The trails are super nice and options are close by. Strasburg is a cute little town nearby to checkout as well

Peace and quiet
This property is probably the best we've ever stayed at. If you want to get away and be in a secluded property for a lot of peace and quiet, this is the place for you. The next morning we drank coffee on the huge porch. There are trails right in the backyard with signs to point the way. The kitchen is huge and fully stocked. We even found a few things that we had forgotten to bring with us. The king size bed Was the most comfortable that I've ever slept on at any property. Downstairs There are two bedrooms, a small, sitting area, a restroom and plenty of things for young folks to do. Darts, air hockey to name a few. About 9 miles up the road is the cutest little historic town. Look up the box office brewery even if you don't drink beer. They have awesome smoked chicken wings with their own special rub. The building dates back to the 1920s and was previously a theater. The hostess, Carla was most gracious, and very easy to get in touch with. We checked out today and have already booked the cabin again for next month. I imagine we will be visiting here quite often. We are so glad we found this place. Thank you VRBO and thank you Carla!

A QUICK VISIT TO THE MOUNTAINS
We had to move to adjacent property due to a hornet's nest but found the house to be well stocked, Air conditioning was great. We found internet and satellite tv worked well for being located in such a remote location. It was unbelievably quiet surroundings. The property manager was exceptional and had answers to every question I threw at her. We plan to book again in the future.

The best spot for a getaway
There is no better place to get away from the stress and demands of the modern world. For days on end, the only human noises are the occasional plane flying overhead. There were deer in the meadow and an abundance of birds, including a nocturnal serenade by whippoorwills. The cabin is incredibly comfortable, with a huge porch, comfortable furniture, big screen TV, and plenty of room. It was immaculately clean. Carla has 2 cabins, and we have enjoyed staying in both - we would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Carla was kind and thoughtful and surprised us with unexpected gifts that made our time there more special. Thanks so much, Carla, we will be back.

Unexpected Surprises
The location is perfect for a quiet get-away. Hummingbirds welcome you to the great front porch and a complementary bottle of wine awaits you on the kitchen table. We had some issues with the cleanliness of the sheets (hairs) but the owner and the cleaning staff quickly remedied the issue. One of the draws to this house for us was the air hockey table. Unfortunately, although you could hear the air was going through the holes, the puck did not glide and therefore we could not play. The house did have air conditioning as advertised, but we sometimes like the cool breeze during the night and in the early morning. Unfortunately I do not recommend opening the windows as the sills were full of dead bug dust and the screens had spiders and their eggs a plenty. Our biggest surprise was the mouse that nibbled on my husband' s toe while sitting in the living room, the second night we were there. It seemed that he found a tissue box in the basement bathroom vanity and made a cozy bed there. His bathroom was the downstairs bathtub. The owner had a homemade box of brownies from the neighbor's bakery business sent to us as a kind gesture for the sheet issue. I had a taste before we left for a day trip. Mmmmmm! (If you end up staying at this house, the "bakery" is the house directly across from the base of the driveway. Highly recommend.) We returned later that evening to find that the mouse had eaten and pooped in the brownies. Bummer! Owner did say she would work on these issues.

To Our Future Guests, We had an extermination inspection (no mice), checked with guests both prior to and since the August reservation above (no mice). We ask when you visit to please enjoy our beautiful property. We are a cabin in the woods and are surrounded by National Forest. We work hard at keeping the Forest and all that comes with it outside. That said, we are extremely responsive and there is no higher compliment then when guests want to return as many of our guests do. We will address issues to the best of our ability if told about them during your stay; when information is held for a review, our ability to address it for you is taken away. We also ask to please reach out to us if you'd like to be put in touch with the bakery as they are not open to the public and orders must be prearranged. We look forward to your visit! Carla

Incredibly peaceful house in the woods
I brought my family down to explore Shenandoah National Park and we picked this cabin as a good place to unwind and regroup. There was good space for us and our 3 kids. The downstairs was a great teen retreat and the large, fully stocked kitchen made for great family meals. Coffee on the porch every morning was the highlight of my trip. Especially watching the hummingbirds play and fight over the hummingbird feeder! Super tranquil and relaxing. Highly recommend this cabin for a peaceful getaway trip.

Boy's Trip
We had a great time at the cabin. It was what I imagined it would be like, very secluded and peaceful. The wild life was abundant with black bear, deer and wild turkeys. We were able to visit several of the local cavernlike, Luray and Skyline, to name a couple... Then back to the cabin for hiking, grilling and cornhole. Wonderful boy's trip....

Very Relaxing
This property is very remote and very relaxing. If you like the sounds of nature, try sitting in the high chairs on the front porch with your coffee first thing in the morning. It was a retreat for me and my wife. We haven't been on a vacation together in 30 years (due to caring for a son with special needs). He is well taken care of now so we were able to get away for a few days. The cabin was very clean and had all the amenities anyone would need. I was amazed as how well everything worked so far away from the city (underground electric, water, hot water, sewer, etc.). We will definitely be back.

The Perfect Pause
It was a beautiful cabin nestled away from all the stress and pressures of daily life. I could sit on that porch all day long, it was so peaceful and relaxing! A fantastic place to get away and relax
The property is beautiful, the cabin was clean and very spacious. The trail made for a great hike, and being so close to GW national forest was icing on the cake. Just sitting on the deck and enjoying the peace and quiet was all I needed, the humming birds were a nice bonus.

Our stay was very enjoyable. The cabin was well equipped and pleasant. It is very remote which was a little drawback for three females. The driveway has trenches in it, I’m assuming for water flow. However, it was not great on our vehicles. The owner was super nice and the property was beautiful.

Relaxing week with long time friends we had not see in 9 years. Met to go over old times and renew friendship experienced over the years. The cabin was nice and secluded with nature all around. Have to watch out for deer crossing the roads. All people met in towns were very nice, helpful and friendly. Mondays a lot of businesses closed. Owners responsive to questions and answered promptly. Cabin is well supplied with utensils and cookware. If eating out, good food and selection between Strasburg and Winchester.

Perfect retreat spot
The property is excellent for a quiet week of reading, walking, thinking. The home is better than described: the kitchen was complete, the home comfortable, clean, clean, clean; a marvelous open air design; lovely front porch with a view to be photographed. Tall chairs that are comfortable to sit in, a swing, a simple but perfect charcoal grill. The king bed is the best, the couch, ideal. It rained and the sound on the roof was gentle; it was cool (50 degrees) and the house comfortable; it was warm (84 degrees) and the house was comfortable. Host immediately available by text. The place is in the country--but the directions given were exact. I drove my very low, very heavy Prius over the five small drainage ditches (three to five inches deep) with no problem. We shopped at Food Lion before arriving, brought our own drinking water. We will be back.

Quiet cabin in the woods, Star Tannery, VA
The cabin is very nice, inside and out. We loved the large porch. The inside is clean, well supplied, and very comfortable. We were cozy during a rainy night. The dirt driveway has drainage ditches dug crosswise, about 6 of them so that has to be taken very slowly. We enjoyed our country getaway, and would consider a return visit.

We loved our vacation! If it could give the location more than 5 stars I would. It was absolutely perfect! The only thing that could have made our stay better was a washer and dryer to use, but overall it was a great place to stay with our kids.

Our stay was wonderful! The host was very responsive when we had a question. There were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 teens. The layout was perfect given our dynamics. Loved having 2 bedrooms/bathroom downstairs with a full living space for teens! The house was very clean and nicely presented inside and out. It had everything we needed, comfortable beds, a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of space to spread out. We walked the property a few times and visited the Shenandoah National Park, Andy Guest Riverfront State Park, Strasburg, Woodstock, and Front Royal during our stay. All are accessible within 30-40 minutes or so...beautiful scenic drives no matter the direction you drive! Breathtaking actually.

Place to unplug
This was our second time staying at this cabin and we loved it as much as the first time. It is a lovely place located in a very scenic area. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby and charming wineries all around. You are pretty close (45 minutes at the most) to cities. This is a great place to gather with others and relax and connect with nature.

Cozy cabin in the mountains
We enjoyed our weekend get-away at this cozy cabin in the mountains. The place is beautifully located next to hiking trails. It is dog-friendly, and we enjoyed hiking with ours. The kitchen was well-stocked, with a couple notably missing items. We couldn't locate oven mitts (used washcloths over silicone hot pads) or butter knives (used steak knives to butter our pancakes). Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it to others.

What a view!
Very cool house. Nice and secluded. Really enjoyed the hiking trail and visits to Strasberg for dinner. If you’re looking for a calm respite with gorgeous Mountain View’s then this home is a great pick.

Very secluded and nice cabin
Clean, secluded, great beds, very comfortable. direct access to a trail/old & abandoned road that goes for miles if wanted, between the woods. Great to have a weekend getaway/technology withdrawal. It does have Wifi, so, it is up to you to enjoy nature. Not a bad thing, but, the roof is made out of metal, and when it is windy, you'll hear it. Nothing bad, kinda nice, but could be a scary moment if you don't know about it.
