I really don't understand how this hotel managed a 'very good' rating and was more expensive than some in the area. On arrival, the weather was atrocious (not their fault, I admit!) and i had to wait outsude in the wind and rain as I sent my son to run across the road to where reception was, in the pub. You might think that for somewhere that quite often suffered from the elements that they might offer some protection from the rain or had a reception on the same premises as the bedrooms.
The corridors and stairs to the room were scuffed and battered with ailing carpets and chipped walls. The room itself was warm and clean enough but there were no net curtains which meant that during the daytime you had to have the heavy curtains closed since the room looked directly onto the car park outside and the houses opposite had a rooms eye view.
And something i probably wouldn't mention if everything else had been ok, but the TV only had 5 channels and kept glitching every 20 mins for a second. Not what you want when you're stuck indoors because of the weather. There's nowhere else to go nearby, either other than the Asda across the road.
