"The owner was very lovely and polite, he prep matcha tea for welcoming us also offering fresh bread making in the morning for our breakfast but my family were very tired from a long day travelling and activities we did in the area, we just want to sleep in so we had to miss out on that. House was clean. The bath was the highlight for us. Just the tap in both toilets a bit hard to operate so we had to wash our hands in the bathroom instead."

"We stayed in Room number one. It was incredible. It was such a wonderful experience to stay in a historic building that had modern amenities and a lot of space. The room decorations and sliding doors were beautiful. The living room overlooks the garden. Everything was clean. It was nice to have the communal food area to grab coffee in the morning and a light meal. Be aware that the room entrance for the room is right next to the lobby. "Such an amazing place to stay. The staff were great and spoke fluent English. The room was also great with a comfy bed. The hotel was near all the shopping and dining areas, within walkable distance, and all the sightseeing was a short train ride away. I would book this place in a heartbeat on my next trip."

"Our family stayed at Oakwood Hotel Oike Kyoto and it was lovely! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and accommodating, overall I would highly recommend anyone coming to Kyoto to stay here! :) I also had a little incident with the hair dryer and I told the staff when I was checking out. I told them to charge it to the room but they were not concerned about that, they asked me if I had burned myself. They were so thoughtful to this clumsy tourist!"

"Our issue was very specific and might not affect most. There were limited gluten free options in the restaurants for lunch and dinner. Although you can convince a chef in other places to grill fish or steak easily, it was not an option here, at least in the common restaurant. Breakfast was better. They had gluten free bread and many options. Also, all restaurants (there are two other special ones) close rather early. But other than these (which might not be a big issue for most) a really good hotel. Fantastic staff."
