The bike rental was amazingly well priced for high quality e-bikes-900 yen for 3 hours! We went to the street markets, Hida village with the bikes. Hotel was newish, everything was very clean.

Our experience at Hotel Around/Accend in Takayama was fantastic, and we enthusiastically suggest it to our friends and family. The hotel is conveniently located near the train and bus station and old town shopping area, is brand new with a laundry room and lockers, offers excellent service, and has spacious rooms. If we find ourselves in the Hida/Takayama area again, we will definitely choose to stay at this hotel.

In a very popular Takayama, it is located just off the busiest area but still very convenient. Our room had a very large king size bed as well as spacious. Communal onsen bath was large and clean, it was very relaxing. There were so much explaining at self check-in, it seemed redundant. Box meal style breakfast had a mix of western and local fare, although orange juice was not fresh. It could be from concentrated, but not orange drink! Although always nice, restaurant staff always seemed ill-prepared.

Hotel is very close to station and most sights of Takayama. Hotel is clean and very modern. The bath house is a plus and very comfortable soaking in hot bath after a long day.

The hotel, staff, and facilities were excellent. We didn't have breakfast or any other meals so cannot comment on that. The location is very convenient for the old town and for local dining options. Although we didn't use it, the station is close by too.

Had a lovely short stay here, it is very close to the train station which is handy. Very modern well presented hotel, staff were helpful. Room was really nice and fairly spacious by Japan standards. Theres an onsen, and a private onsen which we tried, the facilities were really nice, and clean. We also tried the room service dining which was pretty good. They have a luggage storage room with lockers which is great as we arrived a few hours before checkin. Overall a great stay!

Nice and clean hotel. Good size of room. I booked the room with the sofa. Breakfast nice portion but quality need to be improved. Very tasteless and not like normal Japanese breakfast I normally had in other hotels. Lack of choices of hot beverages.

This is the equivalent of a low three star hotel and extremely overpriced for what it is. It is also totally charmless. The write-up in the HOTELS.COM website is inaccurate. It shows this to be one of the top hotels in Takayama, which it is not

This is right next to the train and bus stations for easy transit. Hotel is clean and the Old Town is a short walk away. Breakfast is available but only comes in 2 set menus, Japanese and Western, and you need to reserve your time due to the format. For stays longer than 2 days I would not pre-pay for breakfast. Similarly, reservations are needed for lunch and supper. For a hotel restaurant, especially for lunch, this is not the most convenient. There are plenty of dining options a short walk away though. Overall, fairly good hotel, but in future visits to the town I would probably consider other options.

This is the first hotel I stayed at that had TVs I can cast my shows to and that alone is enough to warrant a good rating. The room was clean, cosy and you can adjust the temperature of the room to a desired level (whether you want it heated or cooling). The design of the room was also very well thought out. A small space was carved out next to the door to allow you to store your shoes and jacket. You can continue watching tv from the bathroom even if you are showering. There are also charging outlets on both sides of the bed. If you arrive too early for check-in at 3pm, you can store your luggage for free in their cloak room. Washing machines are also available for a fee, depending on the weight of your laundry. Public baths are also accessible via room cards, but for female guests, they are given a passcode. You can also reserve a private bath for yourself at the reception. We made a last minute decision to eat breakfast in their dining area, which turned out to be a great decision because the food was delicious! Exploring wise, the way to the shopping district etc is just a short walk away plus the hotel is located 5 minutes away from the Nohi bus station and Takayama train station so it's super convenient. The hotel also provides valuable tips on where you can explore with a board full of information cards. All in all, it's an excellent hotel I'd return to again if I ever visit Takayama.

A fantastic hotel and stay in Takayama. Hotel is very modern and clean, but with traditional Japanese Onsen. Room (superior king) was very spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much effort for them. Location is ideal for arriving from the train (3mins walk), and perfect for day tripping as bus station is next door too. 10-15 min walk to the old town, through very pleasant streets. We ate an evening meal at the hotel too which was lovely and reasonably priced.

Hotel Around Tokayama is absolutly the best hotel we have ever been ( we have been in 6 different hotels in our travels in Japan, from lodges, to 2, 3 and currently a 5 star hotel in Kyoto, as well as other hotels around the world) The Hotel Around has everything a person might need and more. Excelent attention to details, from the toiletries, the room's style and forniture, the bathroom, the reception area, the restaurant and the breakfast choices and presentation. I cannot praise it and the efficent reception staff enough. We loved the modern style but also the cosy and relax feeling of the hotel. The reception and restaurant staff were kind, polite and an absolute joy. We loved the laundromat on the ground floor, everything was just perfect, 10 stars
