The main attraction is very weather dependant. It rained almost our whole stay. We could see mont Fuji before we left and witnessed the first snow at the top The bike ride around rhe lake was worth it.

It was a very pleasant stay in a good part of town, very convenient to get everywhere. Having an on-site onsen was great too, my first time, sitting in steaming water looking out over snow capped mountains.

Great onsen. No fuss room, however terrific sound proofing. Location is 5 minutes away from the river and old town.

This hotel was perfect for our 3-night stay in Takayama: Great location (easy walk from the train and bus stations, close to all the beautiful areas of Takayama, but very peaceful inside) and welcoming and considerate staff. Breakfasts were delicious and the onsens so soothing. Definitely recommend!

Hotel was well clean and close to a 7/11 and restaurants. The front desk lady spoke Spanish which made it easy for me to communicate with since I don’t know Japanese. She was amazing and very helpful. 5 star to her too

Great central hotel with top floor onsen baths

Spa Hotel Alpina Hidatakayama is a centrally located, well appointed hotel within central Takyama, close to the stations, the old town and a myriad of temples, shrines and cemeteries. Staff were helpful, kind and accommodating. The top floor baths were a real treat after a long day. The breakfast buffet, at 1600 yen per person, was pretty much what you'd expect, a little uninspired but convenient.

The hotel os modern but the bedroom furniture was tired. Room a generous size. Used the roof top onsen indoors and outdoor but the ladies side the glass is opaque so no view. Pjs are outdated and very warm after a hot bath. Great location and loads of parking. Easy walk into town or the station

Staff were very good. Check in & out easy. Could do with black tea bags for guests. Only supplied 2 green tea bags, no bottled water. Bathroom a couple of hooks on door for towels would help. No complaints at all just suggestions for a better experience. Not far from station, food and old town.

Great location and bath, uncomfortable bed

The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes walk from Takayama station. It's a pretty small town, so all the main tourist sites are well within comfortable walking distance. The unique selling point of this hotel is the sento on the top floor. Taking a hot bath outside in the cold was outstanding. I love sentos so I went here every night I stayed in the hotel. The room was immaculately clean. For some reason it had a weird echo, perhaps some decorations on the wall would solve that. Zero noise from the outside at night. The bed was too hard for my tastes, it was quite uncomfortable. I don't know how many times I have written this in reviews for hotels in mainly Asia, but I can't understand how people invest millions in opening a hotel but skimp on the beds. Too many times I have slept (or tried to sleep) in a continental bed that is missing the top mattress.
