Julie we are very sorry for your experience at our cottage. This is not up to our standard. We provided a full refund, and we have since remodeled the entire place and have had pest control treat regularly.

With all due respect, none of this review is factual. The guest was here for the Taylor swift concert, and she booked the wrong date. When she arrived at the property, she immediately called demanding check in instructions (quite rudely) which we happily gave her, and stayed on the phone her to ensure she was able to access the cottage. All the check in instructions are available under trip details, and vrbo also sends them to all guests a few days prior to each reservation. We've had hundreds of guests over the years who were able to access the instructions without issues, and find the cottage. As soon as she arrived and accessed the cottage (within a few minutes), she texted to request we add an additional night to her reservation (the night of the concert). Unfortunately, we were already booked for the extra night she requested and i politely explained this to her. Within five minutes of my text, she claimed her daughter was suffering from an asma attack due to the smell of smoke and requested a refund. We found this odd, since we have a strict no smoking policy, and the cottage is inspected and professionally cleaned between each guest. We went to double check her claim and sure enough their was no smell of smoke. I asked her if perhaps the plug-in air freshener was causing the issue with her daughter and offered to remove it, sense that was the only thing we could smell. She then claimed that the air freshener was proof of the smoke smell and asked why the need for it. I explained that the air freshener was placed outside the bathroom door for guest convenience, since the bathroom is close to the kitchen area. Had there been any remote hint of the odor this guest claimed, we would have happily refunded her and cancelled her reservation. Readers of this review should be advised we consider this to be highly inaccurate and retaliatory based on the guest booking the incorrect date and us not being able to accommodate her request to add the additional night. I explained that she was welcome to stay for the nights she reserved, but that we wouldn't be able to accommodate her request for a refund. She continued to be rather rude and belligerent, so i advised her she should contact vrbo customer support directly in order to resolve her issues.

Readers should be aware this guest showed up in the middle of the night without having read the very easy check-in instructions, then decided they didn't like the place, but didn't bother saying anything until several days later, after their reservation had ended. They messaged host asking for refund, in exchange for not leaving a bad review.
