Hollyhock Country House

"Like staying at your great-grandmother's house (with Wi-Fi). If you're looking for a luxury hotel or B&B, keep scrolling. That's not this experience, and you'd be doing this charming host and her home a disservice if you arrived expecting that. If, like me, you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep and change clothes before heading out to explore, this might be right for you. I personally enjoy getting a feel for the local flavor and history of places I visit, and this stay delivered. The home is a century-old cottage with original woodwork and an old-fashioned feel (think Anne of Green Gables), tucked along a quiet, tree-lined street. Accommodations include a smallish bedroom and private bathroom on the first floor. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub with a handheld shower attachment. Because I'm on a restricted diet, I went out for breakfast, but the host will happily cook you eggs. I brought my own oat milk for coffee. There's Wi-Fi, and I watched Netflix on my laptop. The house is just three miles from Sonoma Plaza, making it a convenient base for exploring the area. The host herself has been doing this for decades. She is living Sonoma history and you'd be missing out if you didn't share a cup of coffee with her and hear her stories. This isn't a polished, modern B&B. It's a comfortable, lived-in home with character, history, and a welcoming host. For me, that was part of its charm."

"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this Sonoma wine country property! It was perfect for our sizable family, with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. The property is beautiful, quiet, and just a short drive to the Sonoma Square, which made it very convenient for exploring the area.There was so much to enjoy at the house itself — ping pong, bocce ball, a putting green, pool, and hot tub kept everyone entertained. The large, beautiful kitchen was perfect for cooking and gathering together, and the beds were very comfortable.The owners were also fantastic — incredibly attentive, responsive, and available whenever we needed anything. They clearly take great care in making sure their guests have a wonderful stay.We loved our time here and would absolutely stay again. Highly recommend this property for families or larger groups looking for a relaxing Sonoma getaway!"
