Aberystwyth Hotel Guide - The Magic of Life Butterfly House hotels in Aberystwyth, United Kingdom.

"The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Devil's Bridge and the surrounding area. We visited the Elan Valley dams and reservoirs, the Silver Mountain and Aberystwyth. The Hotel looks stunning from the outside and inside. A lot of care has gone into every detail of the hotel. Our room was on the top floor. It was very cool and quirky, just a little bit musty smelling. (We couldn't open the windows without a load of bugs flying in so had to keep them closed unfortunately.) The bathroom looked cool but there was nowhere to put anything! Our arrival wasn't the best. We had travelled a fair distance and arrived at 7, when staff were busy with dinner. We rang the bell a few times, we were ignored by staff rushing around with dinner and drinks orders. I asked someone at the bar for help, who said they would ask someone to come and see to us. We kept waiting and eventually I managed to stop someone who just gave us the key card and told us our room was on the top floor. But then, the complete opposite service occurred on our second and third nights when one particular member of staff was really kind, friendly and helpful when we were looking to get a table for dinner. I forgot to get her name but she was amazing and really made our stay. "

"We stayed for a festive break and enjoyed lovely walking nearby & further afield. Property has been renovated and has some nice touches. Arriving on Xmas eve we anticipated being able to relax on arrival - however the house was cold so we put on the (underfloor) heating and went out for a local walk but it took 12/15hrs overnight to warm up. There is a woodburner but we were advised in advanced not to use it. The flue needs a bit of TLC. Unfortunately the house had not been cleaned and as this was our festive break we didn't take cleaning stuff & wasn’t going to embark on doing it although we swept floors and had to clean crockery/utensils ahead of using them. We took pictures of everything but have decided against sharing them on this feedback as this may have been a ‘one off’. Suffice to note, the entire house would’ve benefited from a good (deep) clean. In fairness the host, Kate, responded swiftly and refunded 50 as a gesture of goodwill which we accepted. Using the oven without oven gloves was a challenge! Previous guests commented about the road (A44) which the house sits directly on - it was exceptionally busy, day and night with very fast vehicles - noise and headlights adversely affected our sleep as both double bedrooms are at the front; windows would benefit from blinds to block out these lights. The suggestion that you can walk to the nearby visitors centre or cafe is ludicrous given the volume and speed of the traffic without a pavement."

"Excellent overall. Well equipped and plenty of space so you can get into a corner if you want, or need, to. Enjoyed our twins 40th birthday which gave us the ability to have 8 adults and 6 children aged from just over 1 to nearly 9 yrs old. Good memories !!"
