An unknown culture build the ancient city now located in Cañada de la Virgen, Guanajuato. Is belived that this civilization dissapeared before the aztecs. They did not find and written texts and their actual name of what this place was is unknown.

If you happen to be in San Miguel de Allende, I’d recommend a trip out to the Canada de la Virgen archaeological site. It’s a very impressive set of Otomi ruins next to a beautiful high desert canyon. We took a tour with a local anthropologist and learned a wealth of information about local indigenous culture. The traffic in and out of the site is closely monitored in an effort of preservation for this site. Only 55 people are allowed in per hour, which lends itself to a more personal experience. Definitely worth a stop. Look up the Airbnb experience with Alberto. #Mexico #ruins #pyramids #anthropology #archaeology #SanMiguel #indigenous #Otomi
