The entrance to Lewes Castle in East Sussex, England which stands at the highest point of the town on an artificial mound constructed with chalk blocks.

Built in 1069 by William de Warenne the first Earl of Surrey it is one of only two remaining that are based upon the motte and bailey construction.

Its open daily to the public and commands some great views across the countryside, including the Harvey's Brewery which is located in Lewes.
