3. Carowinds Theme Park

Set on the border of North and South Carolina, this park catches the winds from both Carolinas. You’ll certainly feel them as you’re soaring through the air on one of Carowinds’ many thrilling rides. The theme park boasts some of the tallest, fastest and longest roller coasters in the southeast. 4. SkyWheel Myrtle Beach

The SkyWheel forms the impressive centrepiece of Myrtle Beach's 1.9-kilometre Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade. Take flight in one of its 42 air-conditioned gondolas and marvel at the spectacular views. The 10-12 minute trip completes three rotations, and at the apex you'll be suspended a vertiginous 57 metres above ground.
