i liked the lodge it was like a 5 star apartment shower controls were outside the shower so you didnt get burned very relaxing comfy bed

Arrived late and staff could not have been more helpful. Meal prepared for us even though very near the time the kitchen closed. Rooms a good size with good facilities

Lovely hotel but a little noisy
I thought the hotel was a lovely looking hotel and the shower was a particular highlight. My room was at the front of the hotel and it was very noisy with lots of Lorry traffic through the town which lead to not a great nights sleep

Hotel looks better from inside than out. A lovely
This was a last minute booking and we are so glad we made it. It was a great end to our holiday. Thank you for fitting us in for dinner too, which was very good and very reasonable priced with a nice house red to wash it down.

Fantastic. Nicely thought out a Superior room in Mews. The only problem was that it was not fully equipped for disabled guest. No grab rails in shower. Food excellent and nice selection of real ales in the bar. We will visit again.

What a luxurious stay!!! Beautifully updated room and ensuite. The bed was cozy and warm. The soaker tub and was just what I needed after a long day of travel. The restaurant was definitely 5 star and the waiter was very helpful in the perfect gin selection!

Stop of on way home to Aberdeen
A good hotel in a quiet town. A good meal at night and a really decent breakfast. The accommodation was good with an excellent en suite bathroom. I was very impressed with the hotel and no doubt will stay there again

Lovely hotel in a lovely town
Buccleuch and Queensberry hotel is located by the roundabout in a small town called Thornhill. The rooms are comfortable and homely decorated. The bathrooms are modern with well-equipped facilities. There is a pub and a restaurant on the ground floor serving good beers and great food. The staff are welcoming and very helpful.

looks grander than it is and doesn't justify price
Room was fine and en-suite excellent. However the main lights in room were downlighters and the one directly above the head of the bed did not turn off and at 12.30 at night there was little I felt I could do -but very difficult to get to sleep - partly the light and partly the frustration of it! when I reported this in the morning , it was met with a degree of dis-interest and a grudging apology. Breakfast was fine if a little unco-ordinated. There didn't appear to be any management staff in attendance at any time but the younger of the staff were very pleasant.

Disappointing stay - gardens chair with arm missing nails sticking out Poor run down condition of paint etc along corridors Breakfast was appalling Room itself clean and tidy however the upstairs main hotel was unbearably hot Wouldn’t recommend

Went to the Buccleuch and Queensberry Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a great time. The staff were all very nice and we had an excellent dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.

Everything about the room and the hotel was excellent. They covered every minor detail and did it in style. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was superb as were the staff and the food. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying near Dumfries :)

Cldnt find anywhere to park....rooms and decor dated but bathroom nice. Bed not the comfiest. Evening meal and breakfast very good. All staff lovely and accommodating.

Mountain biking weekend
Short 3 day break with teenage son for mountain biking. Great location as very close to Drumlanrig and several other quality mountain bike circuits on the Seven Stanes. Nice modern, clean rooms and absolutely fantastic food in the hotel restaurant, especially the award winning Scottish beef. A bit of noise from the bar at night on one day, but that was only till midnight and perhaps an isolated incident, so didn't spoil our overall stay. Great value for money and will definitely stay again.

The hotel looke very good from the outside and it matched by the decor inside. All the staff arw friendly. Our room was separate from the main hotel which looked like a room equiped for people with disabilities. The room was large and theen suite bathroom had a lot of space. Dinner in the restaurant was really good. Our only slight negetive, and it is slight was the temperature in the room. It was too warm for me and marginally to warm for my girlfriend

Everything about this hotel and little town is wonderful! We wanted to stay in a true Scottish village to experience what the people were really like, every person we met at the hotel and out in the village were so nice. We arrived late in the evening, the kitchen had closed but they made sure my mom had something to eat. There is no elevator but they helped us carry our bags up to amazing rooms! The breakfast was the best we had in weeks of traveling! Only thing that could have made it better is if we had planned to stay longer!

Room itself was small but comfortable, bathroom was a good size. Room was too hot, the heating wasn't on! Staff were polite, but could have been more informative about the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. After going to the bar for a drink I asked if I could have a table for dinner. Told I could eat in the bar as they were too busy!! Decided against this and went off and found an alternative. Annoying to see half empty restaurant when I left and an even emptier restaurant on my return a short time later. Wasn't offered breakfast any option. Spoiled what could have been a perfectly good stay!!

This was a last minute short over night stay to an area and hotel we visited many times and many years ago with our then young children, also for the fishing. We were certainly not disappointed, the hotel was very comfortable but somewhat modernised since our earlier visits! Our room very well appointed and comfortable food was great and staff friendly and helpful.We will hopefully be back.
