"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. Pool can get quite busy with families and children. Town is only a short walk away or they can provide a river taxi. Also took part in the tours arranged by the hotel which was fantastic with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would highly recommend it visiting Tortuguero "

"Very nice owners and the cabin was super clean and well equipped. The double bed is not very big, but it is comfortable. The entrance is from the main street and is a bit steep, but a 4x4 is not required, we drove the way up with a sedan. During the day, you can hear the trucks drive by on the main road, but at night it is mostly quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was amazing!"

"Personal war sehr nett aber die Unterkunft ist sehr heruntergekommen. Die Wand war kaputt mit großen Löchern, Das Zimmer hatte nur eine Steckdose, keine Hänger für die Handtücher im Bad, Wasserhahn kaputt. Also SEHR renovierungsbedürftig."

"This place is a trip! It’s accessible only by water taxi. The rooms are very spacious and clean, and have screen windows only - no glass! There are monkeys everywhere. The staff is very gracious and nice, and really made our trip special. "

"This guest house is great. The staff are so helpful. Emmanuel on reception contacted us in advance to give us really useful travel advice. The ferry dropped us straight to the guest house so we didn’t have to carry our bags a long distance. We were in the lagoon room which had an amazing view. Really good value for money. I definitely recommend this place. "

"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. "Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area. You are not in the main town so do need to get a boat if you want meals elsewhere and they do offer complimentary transport but the last one comes back at 5 so if you want dinner out you have to pay for the boat. That was really the only inconvenience but it wouldn't stop me from booking again. They helped us book the tours and it was easy and practical. "

"The staff is very nice. Book some tours through their partner agency because they have friendly and knowledgeable guides. A few friendly cats in the area, buy some whiskers from the grocery store and make some friends. Sloths in the tree outside. The beach is a few feet away if that’s your thing as well, very shallow water but a refreshing dip. The jungle park is just down the street, 6km out and back close to the beach with some good wildlife. Friendly locals, probably a bit crowded during busy season, but all good vibes. There are a lot of cafes and restaurants but they all have similar menus, not the greatest cuisine but good enough. "
