About this property

The Prospect | Mountain Glamping

  • The Prospect | BLK147 Bed and Breakfast

One of four unique guest rooms at BLK147 Bed and Breakfast, The Prospect is perched near the highest point on the property at approximately 1,920 feet. Inspired by the Copper Basin's prospecting history, this secluded guest room under canvas is reached by a peaceful 2–5 minute woodland walk and you'll feel immersed in the Blue Ridge Mountains rather than simply looking at them. Only a narrow stretch of private woodland separates BLK147 from the Cherokee National Forest, giving The Prospect a wonderfully wild feel. Through the trees you'll catch glimpses of distant Blue Ridge ridges, while winter opens dramatic long-range mountain views.

Inside, you'll find a queen bed dressed with quality linens, comfortable seating, soft lighting, and thoughtful touches that invite you to slow down after a day of exploring. Large screened openings invite cool mountain breezes while keeping you connected to the sights and sounds of the surrounding forest. The mountains here are anything but silent—and that's part of their charm. Mornings begin as the forest comes to life. By afternoon, cicadas and katydids fill the woods, and after dark, owls call across distant hollows while the wind moves through the hardwood canopy. Sound carries differently in these mountains, creating an atmosphere that's uniquely Appalachian.

A private pit latrine is tucked discreetly into the woods just steps from your room. Your stay also includes access to the shared field kitchen, firepit, and our complimentary continental breakfast with made-to-order breakfast sandwiches each morning.

BLK147 is an ideal base for exploring the region. Whether you're celebrating an anniversary, reconnecting with nature, or simply escaping the pace of everyday life, The Prospect offers genuine hospitality, thoughtful comfort, and the chance to experience the Blue Ridge Mountains from within the forest—not just from an overlook

Escape into the mountains and wake up to a delicious breakfast. Nestled among the hollows and ridgelines on the side of mountain at the edge of the Cherokee National Forest, private guest rooms under canvas at BLK147 offer a secluded woodland experience without sacrificing comfort. With just four unique guest rooms, BLK147 offers the personal attention and relaxed pace of a true Bed and Breakfast, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are no roads, rooftops, or neighboring tents in sight—just your own peaceful corner of nature.

Each tent is accessible via a short walk through the trees, where the hustle of daily life quickly fades away. Inside, a comfortable queen bed and versatile lounge seating create a space perfect for slow mornings, afternoon naps, and evenings illuminated by lantern light.

When hunger strikes, the shared open-air field kitchen and firepit area provide essential cooking facilities for simple meals beneath the canopy of trees. Each morning, guests receive a continental breakfast and made-to-order breakfast sandwiches delivered hot in a chafing dish, so there’s no need for an alarm clock.

Fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables grow near the field kitchen. Chickens and goats roam freely on the mountain, guardian dogs keep watch, and perimeter fencing helps keep wildlife at bay. The retreat is adults-only, offering a peaceful, quiet environment designed for restful escape in an increasingly busy world. Here, the luxury isn't found in televisions or crowded resort amenities—it's found in fresh mountain air, genuine hospitality, exceptional comfort, and the rare opportunity to slow down.

Located in a rare mountain fold - sunrise and sunset move through the treetops with the light appearing or disappearing in every direction.

Guests with pets are welcome to contact us beforehand to ensure the best fit for their stay.

Perfectly located for whitewater rafting on the Ocoee, tubing the Toccoa, or hiking the Cherokee National Forest.
