"The reception has limited staffed hours and if arriving outside those hours you must call to get access. Luckily, I had cellular service. The room we had was almost perfect! A kitchen/dining area with toaster oven and portable stove and with a door separating the bedrooms. The balcony has great views of the mountains as do the bedroom windows. My little one enjoyed having a bunk bed with her own door for privacy (and for the adults to stay up later was good too!). The lighting was a bit dark but...

AMERON Neuschwanstein Alpsee Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"We loved the amenities and used the pool and sauna almost every day. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. The air conditioning was really strong in our room which we appreciated. There were a few downsides. We didn’t feel like the staff were extra hospitable besides the cleaning crew. The cleaning crew were awesome and so friendly. But we asked if we could check out at 12 instead of 11 because we just got engaged and the receptionist said no which I thought was odd. In the US, they would have done something special for an engagement and we didn’t receive that response. He said he was concerned that his coworkers would be mad at him for letting us stay an hour later and didn’t want to get yelled at. After working in hospitality for 6 years, I was very surprised by this reaction especially at a hotel this expensive. Are other downside was we felt like we couldn’t sit outside on the lounge chairs because there were so many bees."

"Perfect location, right by the Neuschwanstein bus and carriage stops and the path up to Hohenschwangau castle, and a very short walk to the lake. Lovely restaurant - we booked a table through reception and had a table looking up at the castle. Our room was very quiet. The only slight downside was no aircon so the room was very warm (a fan was provided). Staff were very helpful. There was a small car park for guests - we arrived relatively early so didn't have any issues getting a space although there weren't enough spaces for all guests. The main town car park was nearby though. We'd highly recommend this hotel."

"This was a very modern, chic and trendy hotel. Very clean and the location was great. We were traveling with our family and the bathroom was a little challenging because there are no doors to the bathroom or shower. The shower drain clogged, and because there is no lip in the shower, water went all over the bathroom (but the staff cleaned it up quickly). I think this was the market rate for other hotels in Fussen, but it was expensive, and breakfast and parking wasn’t included. Maybe just not the right fit for our family, but a couple looking for a fun getaway it would be awesome."
