We loved the hotel. I wish I had known that courtyard view meant it was a very small internal courtyard. I would have paid for a better view, more sunlight. But otherwise it was a very lovely, large and clean room. The breakfast was very good.

The hotel was clean and in a quiet location, yet just a short walk from the main streets of Valletta. Excellent breakfast selection and friendly, helpful staff. The staff comes to knock on your room to ask if it needs cleaning even if you put the do not disturb message on your door. They woke us up twice for the same reason. The breakfast is cheap and the rooms are very small, even the corridors to move around. Overall, I didn't really enjoy my stay at the hotel.

Me and my girlfriend visited Malta for the first time over half-term and stayed at the San Karlu for three nights. The hotel was lovely, with nice rooms and a delicious breakfast. The pool was also lovely to visit, with the rooftop bar a bonus! The only feedback we'd give is that the pool could do with being heated, especially for when the sun goes down, and also the railings around the pool could do with glass or perspex layer to block out the wind - it can get a little chilly on the roof! Otherwise a lovely stay and we'll be back again!

Overall, it was a great stay. However, the area within a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel felt a bit quiet and secluded, with quite a few vacant houses around. It’s worth being a little cautious when coming and going.

Great hotel in central location. Lovely rooftop pool. Nice buffet breakfast. Rooms needed air con to be turned on (we asked as it was stuffy but were tokd they didn’t have it on in April)
