Learn about the local history of Valletta when you take a trip to St. Johns Co - Cathedral. Stroll along the area's seaside or simply savour its top-notch restaurants.
This battle-scared fortress has stood watch over Malta’s capital city for more than 400 hundred years. Learn about the historic sieges that took place here through dramatic reenactments.
All buses terminate at Valetta bus station and timetables/ bus stands are clearly marked. The dhow style ferry to Sliema is cute, fast ferry to Gozo good. Many historic buildings, St John Cathedral stunning, daily firing of cannons. A lot of traffic.

There are so many things to go and see in Valletta. Lot's of quirky bars, lots of restaurants including plenty with a Michelin link (without crazy prices too). Would recommend the 'Malta experience', you'll learn so much about the islands history.

We took the bus to the ferry to Comino. Try and get a speedboat type boat, rather than the bigger ferry! On our last day, we took the ferry to the Three Cities, had an explore and lunch, then a traditional Maltese boat tour of the harbour back.

Really enjoyed Valletta. I had been advised to stay in St. Julians which I did for 3 nights, followed by 2 nights in Gozo and 2 nights in Valletta. Valletta was far and away the best location. Lots of history and very walkable (despit the hills).
"Wonderful 3-night stay at Palais Le Brun 🌟 Firstly, the staff at this hotel are AMAZING. Super friendly, attentive, and would do anything they can for you. We spent some time relaxing in the rooftop pool, having drinks at the bar, etc, and Fatima in particular is a credit to the hotel. First class service from her 👏
Our room was lovely, quiet, and clean. Lovely breakfast, amenities were great - including the gym. It's not huge, but it gives you everything you need to get a workout done 🏃♀️
Would definitely recommend staying here - I'll certainly be back !!"
"The perfect central location, gave us multiple options for everything. The hotel was superb with wonderful facilities, friendly staff and cleanliness.we were able to pack everything and more into a four day break."
"I had an amazing stay at San Karlu! The location is perfect—just a short walk (less than 10 minutes) from the main bus stop and close to bars, restaurants, and the main square of Veleta.
The staff were incredibly friendly, and I especially want to thank Florianne, who was so helpful with recommendations and guidance on using public transport.
The hotel itself is spotless and offers great amenities. The swimming pool was a highlight—perfect for cooling off in Malta’s heat—and there’s a bar and food service if you feel like lounging by the pool all day.
Breakfast was lovely, and overall, the experience exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!"
"Overall, this is an excellent hotel in a fantastic location. It offers convenient access to the Three Cities, Sliema, and the Gozo ferry terminals. Key attractions like St. John’s Co-Cathedral, the lively Republic and Merchant Streets, Grand Harbour, Upper Barrakka Gardens, Triton Fountain, and the Valletta bus terminal are all within walking distance. Popular spots such as Mdina and Marsaxlokk are just a short drive away. The rooftop provides stunning views of the Carmelite Church dome and Fort Manoel. The staff are welcoming, and the hotel is well-maintained and clean."
"The breakfast offered a lot of options, cooked to order. Balcony have great views of the harbour. Transport offered from airport which was a good deal and back again,
very convenient. Very attentive, helpful staff."
"The location of the Cumberland was really amazing. Right in the middle of the action of Valletta with close access to many restaurants, attractions like St.John’s Cathedral, Upper Barrakka Gardens, the famous St.Lucia street for alfresco dining, the waterfront & museums. SPAR the grocery store was just down the same street - which enabled us to get snacks, water, etc. We enjoyed staying in our suite with an upper loft portion. The main bus terminal is also a doable walk of about 10 minutes for bus access to Mdina. Both ferry terminals to Sliema & the 3 Cities were also within reasonable walking distance. We definitely would recommend a stay here if you are looking for a boutique style hotel centrally located. "
"Lovely hotel, excellent and friendly service from the staff. The breakfast was nice, and the free wine was a plus watching the sunset on the rooftop seating.
The location is good for Valetta, close but out the way for the noise, within walking distance of everything.
Would suggest towels need changing more frequent but no other feedback."
