"The rooms that are ocean view don't exactly face the ocean. When we arrived, they had to explain the difference between oceanfront and ocean view rooms. There are no rooms that actually face the ocean. Rather, the front of the building faces the ocean, but the sides face the parking lot or a garage. If you want to look at the ocean, you need to go out onto the balcony and look down the coast. I feel like the pictures of the place on Expedia are a bit misleading about this. However, the place is directly on the ocean. I walked the pier (free) and the beach each day and it was beautiful. Another challenge with this hotel is that a train apparently runs past regularly day and night. It was extremely loud!!!! I was worried I wouldn't sleep because it was so loud, but my husband and I are heavy enough sleepers, so it didn't keep us up or wake us. Anyone who isn't will not be able to tolerate staying here."

"Very cute property at the end of a quiet street that abuts a hill. It’s very peaceful, you can hear crickets at night. The unit is enclosed by a gate and feels very secure and private for being basically an ADU I’d guess. We really enjoyed it and would stay again."

"We really enjoyed this place. I rented the main house and the casita for me, my three kids (and my daughter's partner)--so four adults and one teenager. Check-in went really smoothly and I got a quick response to my text asking for the casita door code before we arrived. I loved the location at the end of a dead-end street (no traffic) and at the base of a beautiful hill/mountain. We were easily able to ride our bikes to the beach and other places (we used a car to go downtown and to beaches further away). We loved the back patio in the mornings and evenings. It's a peaceful and quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well-stocked and we ate several meals there. The AC units really helped cool things down. Just two tiny things that were not an issue--we couldn't find the TV remote and the coffee maker in the casita didn't work. Again, it was no problem and we didn't bother reaching out during our stay. I would absolutely stay here again!"
Ojai Serenity House - Peaceful Cozy Oasis

"Very lovely rental with a few minor issues. First, the location is close to everything and so much is provided. There are extra towels, linens, and pillows available. My family also appreciated the large primary closet, full length mirrors, and 2 bathrooms. The yard area was also very well kept. Wish we could have used the sauna but it was too hot outside. The main issue is that the shower in the secondary bath was broken. We couldn’t get the water to turn on at all. Since we were there for 2 nights only, my daughter used the primary shower. While this was a fairly minor inconvenience, a review from April also mentioned this issue. This leads me to think repairs are not being handled properly and that the 2nd bathroom is not being cleaned. Other issues included the bathroom soap dispensers not being filled and flies coming out of the drains. If the shower was working properly I would not have mentioned the other issues. However, these issues combined were enough of a nuisance to make our stay less than it should have been. Once the shower is fully fixed I believe I would give a higher rating. One other thing, the house is not a private rental. There is an attached converted garage that is also rented out. Although this information is in the original listing it is easily overlooked since it is in the middle of a paragraph. Be aware that the driveway is shared with whoever may be renting out the garage space."

"I give the place 4 stars only because we had plumbing problems the first night in the main bathroom. We could not use the toilet or shower. Also the internet/streaming did not work on the tv. After reporting the problems, the host sent a plumber and technician to fix the internet the next day. Bathroom was resolved, but internet/tv never quite worked properly. It actually turned out fine because we played games all night instead! Loved the location. Minutes from the beach by walking!"

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family, spanning three generations, always loves spending time together at the beach. This was our fourth year renting this house, and we enjoy both the location and how well it suits our needs. While the property is older and lacks some modern conveniences such as an ice maker or garbage disposal, it’s well-maintained. Cruz is great to work with, and we’ll definitely be back. :)"
