Short stay in Vienna in September 2023
very good location right next to the old Westbahnhof (railway station). Great access to subway, street cars (tram), and busses. Excellent (!) breakfast - best if you come early. A place I can recommend.

Good breakfast buffet The only thing i have an issue is the air conditioner does not function as cold as we wanted .The temperature is set at 20 degrees but the setting could not be adjusted.

The room had no Airconditioning, in a very hot weather. The room should clearly state whether it has A/C otr not. For a 4 start hotel that was VERY DISAPOINTING!!!!!!! I WOULD NEVER COME BACK NOR RECOMEND IT.

The room had no mini refrigerator. The reception told us that its wrong information on expedia. It was very hot days and we where unable to bay any food. The beds were awful The cleaning staff didn't change dirty towels until we asked them Thus experience is not 4 star hotel experience.

Really happy I chose this place. Everyone was very kind and helpful. It's actually a really nice place. Staff was great. Has a nice little bar. Will try to stay here again next time I'm in Vienna.

In such a large city, transportion is key. The hotel is located within 200 m from a metro, tram and train station. The train station has a large mall with many restaurants to choose from and even an Ikea. A Lidl grocery store is across the street. Friendly staff. The lobby is amazing with a replica of a Gustav Klimt mural that is found at the Secession Museum. The room itself is spacious enough, although it looks good but the scale of the furniture doesn' t use the space efficiently. Not enough space to even unpack our backpacks during our 4 day stay. The water pressure is incredible, best shower ever. Again the bathroom looks good, but the lighting is directed on the sink and not toward the face, so shaving and makeup are a guessing game. The A/C was set at 20 C and not very powerful, so the room became warm and we had to open the windows and put some ear plugs to sleep because the street below is super busy and noisy with open windows. The boulevard had 8 car lanes, a tram track and a small park separating traffic. Although the large armoire that holds the fridge is quite deep, the fridge itself is shallow. Instead of a desk is an oval table with no desk lamp. The beds were comfortable but the pillows with a bit deflated. Still it looks goods. We skipped the breakfast as it was pricy.

Overall a good experience
Clean, friendly, great location, good value for money. Only 2 small negatives - would love a kettle in the room - the cafe seemed a bit too formal to get a quick coffee from. One day at breakfast I had to wait 5 mins for cups to be replaced before I could get a drink. Minor inconveniences but slightly frustrating if you're a coffee addict like me.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. The room was fine and quite spacious (privilege room) but the hotel is showing its wear and tear. The breakfast area was quite chaotic with lots of tourists. The location is OK.

Very nice hotel with a friendly helpful staff. We stayed here over 20 years ago and decided to book again as part of the final leg of our Vienna visit. The place has changed a lot with a lovely new lobby and an exceptionally good restaurant which we tried.

Really great location next to supermarket, train station and shopping centre. Only 10 minutes on metro to city centre and 15 minutes by tram to main train station. Staff were fantastic. Rooms and decor perhaps a little tired. Leak in the bathroom but didn’t give them a chance to sort. Good for 1 or 2 night stay in Vienna.

Good location by station but bad housekeeping
Pretty standard hotel by a train station. However, weren't impressed with housekeeping, particularly as the complimentary teas/coffees weren't replaced, and our used mugs were untouched and left by bed etc, and not replaced. The room itself was fine, a bit small for two people and not much of a view but fine to sleep in. I would recommend this hotel for one or two night stays, but not any longer.

hotel OK, no aircon / only a fan at hotel room
Hotel room was clean and basic. But our hotel room had no air-conditioning, instead, the room had an electric fan. We called and they said that we needed to upgrade our room to get air-conditioning and refrigerator / mini-bar. We did not expect this type of electric fan room in a 4 star hotel accommodation.

Easy access from the airport as the bus stops a few minutes walk away. Also close to the metro for access to the centre of town (4/5 stops). Our room was clean and comfortable but the décor a bit tired. It was fine for a couple of nights.

I booked a one night stay for my Mom at this hotel. When she checked in, she sent me photos, and the place looked dodgie, like a 2* hotel. The bed was so small, she could have fallen off of it (she is 5’5), and the whole room was about 2by2... the pictures from Expedia were completely different to what the room looked like, falsely advertising the conditions with pictures that made the room look bigger, and more elegant looking. Even the furniture was different in the room! The bathroom was also different. i called the hotel, but staff said they cannot do anything. My booking said twin bed, yet the staff said it was “just a request” therefore they’ve followed protocol. Then I called Expedia. 3x the line was disconnected, and I was not called back (although the operators all said they have my number in case the call gets disconnected). Each time I called back, I had to start over and explain everything again. It was 1AM my time (I live in Sydney). At the end, the last operator said that she couldn’t reach the hotel as no one is picking up the phone... Wonder how I was able to reach the hotel then? They told me to send an email to their customer support team... which I will... but none of this will change the fact that the room I booked for mom was FALSELY ADVERTISED and nothing changed about that. Even if I get reimbursed, it won’t change the fact that the one night my mom spent at this hotel, was in a 2by2 room that looked like a dodgie 2* hotel.

Our standard single rooms are equipped with 1 single bed (90 x 200 cm). This is also mentioned on our website as well as on expedia.com We are sorry that your mom was not satisfied with her room. Due to our booking situation during her stay we were not able to offer any other room type for that period. Kind regards

Great spot, excellent service & good price !!!
Overall a very enjoyable stay, staff were polite & on point with everything. Ready to help me answer any queries or needs I may have. Rooms are very clean and updated with all the amenities you may need. The area is very close to the westbahnhof train station. Very easy to get around in & a lot of restaurants and shop around as well! Will definitely come back to stay at The Mercure!
