Are you a fan of HGTV's Fixer Upper? Step into the world of Chip and Joanna Gaines and experience the ultimate Waco getaway at The Giraffe House - the charming three-bedroom abode featured on HGTV's Fixer Upper Season 4, Episode 15. This delightful home is the perfect retreat for anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind stay just minutes away from downtown Waco and all the Magnolia and Baylor hotspots.
While the home was originally celebrated on the show for its uniqueness from their other properties, it still features the signature Chip and Jo style that we all know and love. The Giraffe House exudes a cozy cottage vibe with modern upgrades and eclectic touches that will make you feel right at home.
Lounge on the inviting front porch swing, or head to the spacious backyard for a relaxing retreat. The open living room boasts stunning herringbone flooring salvaged from the bakery, while the pantry doors were a magnificent find from the garage renovation.
The fully equipped kitchen is ready for anything, while the upstairs bathroom is a true masterpiece with a wooden beam and rock from the house's exterior. And if you need a quiet spot to unwind, the upstairs office/reading nook is the perfect place to kick back and relax.
While most of the homes featured on the show are chosen by couples looking for a new place to call home, this particular property received some special attention from Chip and Jo. The couple purchased it as an investment property before completely envisioning and remodeling the home. Originally owned and occupied by the Matsumotos, the brother of the director of Fixer Upper, since its sale, Jo has mentioned her adoration for the home, showing that it still has a special place in her heart.

  • The Cameron Park Zoo in Waco, Texas is a terrific zoo! The zoo has a great range of animals and exhibits and the grounds are well kept and spacious. There's lots of shade to keep you somewhat cool during those hot Texan summer months if you visit during that time frame. The animal enclosures are nice, and can really give you great views of the animals themselves if you are a bit patient. This also makes for great photo views, as shown here with this photo of an approaching jaguar. Food and snack prices are also very reasonable, as are prices for souvenirs. This zoo makes for a great day out for the family.

The house was a perfect place to enjoy some family time during Baylors Family weekend. Absolutely loved the kitchen and dining room for gathering. In the late afternoon, after all our sightseeing, shopping, and cheering on the Bears, I enjoyed reading on the front porch swing.

Sweet short stay

Visiting Baylor with my son we stayed a couple of nights. Explored the neighborhood and enjoyed our stay. Take some time to sit on the front porch and soak up some sunand listen to the neighborhood on a Sunday morning.

Waco, here we come!

The Giraffe House was a beautiful home to stay at for our visit to Magnolia Market. This was a bucket list for my mom. We had a girls’ trip and we loved it. Waco Tours taught us so much about Waco and where we should visit. We loved dating in a home from Fixer Upper and done by Chip and Joanna. The home is not walkable to the Silos, but we had a rental car and that was fine. Home was clean, beds were comfortable and check in was super easy. I highly recommend!

The Magnolia Experience

Affordable and clean stay with the full Magnolia experience. Toddler age kids loved the backyard and house was kid friendly too. Would recommend to anyone but in particular those with young children. Only request would be a full length mirror in a bedroom or bathroom.

Giraffe House

I was in Waco with my mom and sister for a girls trip and we loved being able to stay in a “Fixer Upper” house! The home was beautiful and was very clean. Everything there was very comfortable and we appreciated all of the information that the hosts gave us. The only negative thing we have to say was that when we first got to the house it was FREEZING. The house was set to 58 degrees and it took a while for it to heat up to a comfortable temperature. We would still stay here again when we come back again some day.

Giraffe House in Waco

It was fun to stay in a Fixer Upper house from Season 4. The house is in a convenient location and worked well for our family. Our granddaughters loved playing with the toys, and on the swings and slide in the backyard. A pack and play was available, which was super helpful. It would have been great to have a highchair, too. There was plenty of space in the kitchen and dining area.

Fun to stay I have stay at a Chip and Jo renovation

The place was nice. The location is not awesome but we chose based on that is was the Giraffe House. It is still not far or difficult to get to what/where you want. Management was helpful and easy to communicate with. They could use a little more sitting space in the living room and the front bedroom bed squeaks/creaks each time you move. Those where the only challenges...

So much fun!!!

We were all so excited to stay in the Fixer Upper house! And it was more amazing than we expected!!! Stayed here for 1 night, wish we could have stayed longer! Will for sure be back! Waco was so much fun!! Went to every Magnolia store. House was amazingly decorated! Got ideas for my own house. We all had so much fun playing board games at the table eating Magnolia cupcakes! And playing twister in the upstairs gameroom! Also played in the backyard on swingset and playing football! We loved the front porch swing. Quiet neighborhood, 5 to 10 mins from all things Magnolia! Thank you for the coffee, wine, and treats, and for sharing your house!!

Fun stay in Waco at the Giraffe House

I reserved this house for a mother-daughter trip to Waco. We were excited to watch the Fixer Upper episode featuring this house in the weeks before we traveled. The rental contact communicated frequently prior to our arrival with instructions and add'l information about Waco. One the day of arrival, I received specific instructions on how to access the house. We arrived and got into the house without any issues & we loved it! Very cozy bungalow size home with 3 bedrooms to choose from. House was clean and a notebook with check-in & checkout instructions, along with lots of recommendations for eating & shopping in Waco was left out for us. The rental contact stayed in touch throughout our stay to be sure we were doing alright, and I knew I could contact them if we needed anything. Really appreciated their accessibility. The house is very comfortable, but the upstairs bedroom does stay a bit warmer than the rest of the house. I do think they could add some hangars to the closets, and some towel hooks in the bathrooms, but otherwise this is a great place to stay! Highly recommend and we cannot wait to revisit someday!

Great Pictures and Decent Place

Neighborhood was on edge of feeling safe/unsafe. Had our kids with us and definitely wouldn’t have gone walking but immediate neighbors were fine. There was a stray cat on porch that was clearly being fed on porch and kept trying to come in house. Kids playground in the back was awesome. Dirty sock on the dresser in our room when we arrived. Lots of options for opening wine but nothing for making tea. Coffee wasn’t good. Some of the finishes felt cheaply done for as much effort as was clearly put into the home. The bedding was all polyester instead of cotton, pillows were not comfortable but beds were great. Last detail- we booked a week before travel at which time we requested a late checkout so our kids could get a nap before departure. I didn’t get a response until the day before our departure (because I asked a second time) and they denied it since they had new guests arriving. Just bad communication and customer service.

Bucket List trip to Magnolia

We came to Waco, TX to check off a bucket list trip to Magnolia. The Giraffe House wad the perfect place to stay. Close to everything in Waco, TX, check-in and check-out was a breeze, and so comfortable we would encourage anyone coming to Waco to have a memorable experience stay here!
