"DO NOT BOOK UNLESS YOU ARE GERMAN WITH A GERMAN CREDIT CARD. Worst experience I have ever had on ebookers.. I booked a double room w/breakfast.... The credit card charge was not via ebookers but it was supposed to be charged by the property. They sent an auto-generated email to say they were going to charge my Visa. They then emailed me to say there was a problem charging my card. They then called me to say that they do not have breakfast available and that I should cancel...

"We stayed for 3 nights. Friendly staff in the restaurant. Everything worked and the apartments are spacious and so cozy. Very baby friendly! Although a bit of noise at night from other guests. Overall great stay with a nice location. "

"Das Hotel ist sehr schön gelegen. Wir waren für zwei Nächte dort. Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen, vermutlich weil außer dem Besitzer und einer Reinigungskraft keiner im Hotel beschäftigt ist. Ich hoffe, dass sich das bald ändert, damit das Hotel nicht verfällt. Das Frühstück war in gut, wenn auch nicht sehr abwechslungsreich. Aber für einen kurzfristigen Aufenthalt in Ordnung."

"Pension Barbara is a very cosy and clean pension right next to the paths leading up to The Brocken. The hostess was very sweet and attentive, and we had a good stay. Schierke as a town is a bit dated and quiet in the autumn, when we visited. Is was difficulty to find a place to just have a couple of drinks etc. The national park, Brocken and paths are all excellent for a short hiking-holiday. Great nature, chalenging paths (if you want it), nice restaurant on the summit."
