I want to say that the staff at Essence was friendly and helpful. The property leaves much to be desired though. The bathroom sink had a 2x6 board as an apron from the vanity instead of matching the counter. The bathroom door was old and had holes. There was almost no water pressure in the shower and the grout was mildewed. Ironically the sign out front advertises renovated rooms. The location was the worst though. Coming off of US 46 you can’t see the hotel but you have to cross 3 lanes in less than 20 yards which is almost impossible during the day so you have to figure out how to get around this very busy interchange.

Assigned an already occupied room. Reissued another room which was unclean. Room 113 Creaking bed, hair under bed, toilet seat unstable. Failed room service. Smokers all around even though building is non-smoking. Don’t expect an exceptional service here. Just sleep, shower, rest and go on your day.

The facility, upkeep, and cleanliness was fair to good. The main drawback is that it is difficult to arrive at the property as the entrance driveway can only be accessed from one roadway coming from one direction on a highway. The nearby roadways and traffic restrictions make it difficult to re-enter the property after going out (as the maze of off-ramps immediately in front of the property does not allow simple U-turns).
