Back in the 70s I lived in the building next door. The building where the Night Hotel is now was an SRO (look it up) back in the day. I noted that a number of rooms seemed to still be SRO housing. The clerk acknowledged that. was so.
Go watch the film "The Night Porter" with Dirk Bogarde and Charlotte Rampling to get a feel.

The staff was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had and providing recommendations for restaurants and directions. The rooms and property were always clean. Breakfast provided many choices da and was always well stocked. The breakfast bone moves quickly and efficiently. The frosted glass shower/bathroom wall” was NOT an issue as the person in the bathroom could only be seen as a “blob.”
