Cozy Cabin 2 miles from Whiteface mtn and close to Lake Placid
Welcome to your relaxing getaway! Whether you are coming here to ski Whiteface the Olympic Mountain, Hike, fish, bike or just breathe in the mountain air we invite you to spend time at our cabin. After decades of spending time in the Adirondacks it was time to find a place we could go to unwind. In the 1940s, 2 small cabins were brought up from the nearby town of Jay and made into one. We purchased the cabin in early 2017 and spent over a year renovating it and making it a truly comfortable, peaceful retreat. In the great room you will see some of the original character of the cabin. The cabin is located approximately 2 miles from Whiteface Mountain. The mountain can be seen from part of our property and with some tree removal this summer we hope to have even more of a view. The cabin has 2 cozy bedrooms each with a full size log bed. There is one completely renovated bathroom with a shower stall. The living room comes complete with 2 leather chair and a halfs and a full size couch and is where you will find the TV. The television sits on top of a media center complete with an electric fireplace for a chilly fall night when you might not want the heat on in the whole house and also has a built in bluetooth speaker. The kitchen is large and comes complete with all the dishes, cookware and utensils you will need to cook your relaxing vacation meals. The Appliances are new and the counters are all made from local walnut slabs. There is a table in the kitchen that comfortably seats 4. As you face the kitchen sink you will look out onto the great room which has a long walnut bar area where 4 additional stools are located. This room is over 600 sq. ft and has a pull out full size futon, new cozy sectional and a large comfy chair and a half. You will have no trouble finding a good spot to sit while you are here. Lots of board games are located in this area. Outside, there is front deck equipped with wonderful outdoor furniture for you to relax on and patio/pergola with a dining table and chairs for 6 people. There is a gas grill to cook food for everyone. In the warmer months you can set up the hammock and enjoy the nature that surrounds you. A fire pit is located to the side of your house and there is some wood provided you when we are able to round up some on our property. Otherwise, you can purchase bundles at many spots along the local roads for $5 to $7. The town of Wilmington is only 1.5 miles down the road where you will find our convenience store/gas station and a few restaurants in town as well all needed amenities 10 miles away in Lake Placid. There is the flume trail system for walking/mountain biking approximately 1.5 miles away. Lake Placid is 10 miles away offering restaurants, shops and all the fun of the Olympic sites from 1980. You can access the high peaks and hike many of the 46 high peak mountains within a 10 mile drive of the cabin. The Ausable river flows close by and offers some of the best fly fishing around. We enjoyed everything about this house, close to what we were visiting, clean, cozy and easy communication with the owner. Maureen has a wonderful nicely decorated little cottage in the woods :) , def. would stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin is adorable and very nicely furnished. We had plenty of room and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor space, especially the deck. Host communication was excellent...very responsive. Highly recommend this property!
Our family of five had a wonderful stay (our second visit). The kids loved the firepit and making S'mores. They counted every owl in the cabin multiple times over.
The close proximity to the high peaks and Lake Placid makes this a good location to explore the Adirondacks.
The property was enjoyed by my partner and her two teens for the whole weekend. It was cozy and welcoming and we looked forward to retreating there after spending some time on Whiteface Mountain. The location is ideal if you're planning to spend time in Lake Placid or on Whiteface Mountain. Will definitely book again!
We stayed for a few days over New Years Break and it was very conveniently located with close proximity to Lake Placid activities! We made good use of all the board games and appreciated the cabin space. Even made a fire at the outdoor firepit! Kids explored the backyard woods! Maureen was very readily accessible.
Was a special event and a great property to come home to. Great living room to relax and entertainment room was very comfortable. Very pleased with overall experience and value.
The cabin was decorated perfectly-warm, inviting, cozy.
With two adults and two children (teenager and tween) we felt there was ample room for us to “have our own space”.
The cabin is very close to Whiteface, which we appreciated, and approximately 15 minutes “ish” from Lake Placid.
The property was clean, and well stocked (kitchen, towels, blankets, etc).
The owner communicates well, and responds promptly.
We highly recommend!
This cabin is very centrally located for exploring Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, the Ausable River, Little Whiteface, and also not far from Lake Champlain. It had nice linens and everything you would need to be comfortable. Our only disappointment was the lack of air conditioning - they were having record high temps that week, but apparently their normal rhythm is to remove the window A/Cs in mid- to late-September, and turn on the heat. This is just something to note if you come in early fall. We were able to sleep comfortably at night with the windows open, but it got stuffy during the day. Good communication with the owner. The other note (this has nothing to do with the property in particular), is that in early fall Wilmington has almost no restaurants open on Mondays and Tuesdays, and some are closed for the season, so be prepared to drive or cook. We actually found a place called Monday Tuesday Grill south of Jay that turned out great. Lake Placid has a lot more things open.
Cozy place with plenty of room for our family. Quick drive from everything we needed on our stay for a kid-friendly vacation - Santa's Workshop, Whiteface, gondola rides, A and W, ice cream and beach/park all right there. Thank you!
It was our thrid stay in the cottage , we really enjoy the ambiance, location and friendliness and ease of communication with the owner.

We absolutely loved our stay. There was so much character and space for everyone to have alone time and enjoy the decor and outside area. We will definitely be booking again!
