The Lodge exceeded all our expectations! It's simply wonderful and we cannot wait to come back. The historic nature of the property was particularly appealing. The little touches that made us feel so welcome and the excellent way the property is maintained are just some of the things we loved about The Lodge. Nestled in beautiful surroundings and close enough to explore town. Love, love, love. Thanks so much for having us.
On arrival the welcome sign with my name on it was a thoughtful gesture. Also the wine and chocolates were lovely. As soon as I walked into the cabin I felt instant relief and destress. I love all the wood inside the the cabin. Then when I went outside in the undercover area the hugh grapevine blew me away. All the grapes on there were beautiful, I just stared at it. I love my plants and gardening. The seating area outside was great and the wooden table was very nice. Saw lots of birds they came to the bird bath and even saw 2 deer in the bottom paddock. If you want to unwinde this is the place to go and chill. Thanks Richard you have been a great host. Will be back again. Cheers!
Love our weekend. Great to be so close to small town we enjoyed exploring the local community. We were lucky enough to also have surprise fireworks from the neighbouring vineyard
Beautiful outlook from this little rustic cabin with all the amenities you need to enjoy your stay. Wolllombi is such a cool little community and the nice welcoming touches were appreciated. Would stay here again
Spent two nights here in late August.
The Lodge is a lovely rustic cottage that we thoroughly enjoyed staying at.
The fire was ready to light and a nice bottle of red and some chocolate greeted us on our arrival.
Only 2 minutes from Wollombi and close to many wineries.
The house looked better than the photos on the listing. The composting toilet is a bit annoying and definitely smells. The decor was very cute and lovely grounds. We really enjoyed our stay. No shops nearby so bring any food/snacks you want!
You have the convenience of the road to the village and wineries at the front of the property and the privacy of the countryside at the back. The cottage is well supplied with all the things you need for a comfortable stay
This property was everything we hoped it would be and more, a bit further out from pokolbin so its quiet and peaceful and full of everything you need for your stay!
Everywhere you look in this property is something interesting that gives this place so much charachter!! Will definitely be back!!
Very pleasant stay. Thank you. Would like to go again in winter and enjoy the fireplace. Quiet country outlook. Very close to town and excellent meal in local pub and restaurant. Thank you for the unique experience and the bottle of wine and chocolate.
The lodge is a lovely renovated property located slightly over 1KM from Wollombi . We enjoyed the warmly decorated interior and the large outdoor area. the welcoming bottle of wine was a very nice surprise and we thoroughly enjoyed it . Thank you Richard
Ignore the rather shabby facade. Once you enter, it is full of character and has a welcoming, homely feel. We came for a wedding and found the location to be excellent. Very close to the hotel and cafes on one side and the wedding venue, Red Leaf, a few minutes from ve on the other. We wish we had booked for a longer stay and will return to si be more time at The Lodge and visit the wineries.
A lovely rustic property with beautiful grounds and surroundings. Well equipped and very functional . Very comfortable beds and it contained everything we needed for an enjoyable stay . A beautiful log fire with ample supply of wood and the bottle of red wine and chocolate was much appreciated on our arrival. The property within a short walking distance of the Wollumbi township.
If you wanted a few quiet days away I would recommend it.
Just what I hoped for. A quiet retreat within walking distance of Wollombi village. Clearly this is an old cottage which has been carefully renovated to retain its charm. I saw lots of birds including satin bower birds from the pleasant outdoor areas and large windows. Only one caveat ... there are 4 steps up to the toilet, which could be a problem for those with mobility issues.
The property is quaint, cosy and perfect to disconnect from the stress of life! All the amenities you need are included for a weekend away. There are multiple areas in and around the home to enjoy and watch the birds and trees.
There is reception available on phone but isn’t strong, but that wasn’t a problem.
The timber cottage seems historic but always felt comfortable, the township of Wollombi is so close (around 1km away, and has a tavern and multiple little cafes.
We took a short 30 min drive into Lovedale and Pokolbin for some lunch, drinks and cheese, a beautiful area indeed.
My partner and I loved our stay, highly recommended for a couple to get away and enjoy the serenity while staying connected to good food and plenty to occupy yourselves.
We had a mixed view of the Lodge. We stayed here due to the location as we were attending a wedding at Redleaf
It was in a great location, good size and very easy check-in. The place was very clean and had a bottle of wine and chocolate left as a gift which was a nice touch. A very nice and spacious outdoor area.
However, there were a few negatives:
There was no mobile reception and no wifi.
There was no iron which I probably should have checked rather than assuming there'd be one. Since we were attending a wedding, we needed one and was very difficult getting our hands on one.
Also no shampoo / conditioner, again something you expect when paying several hundred dollars a night.
There was no linen... only a bottom sheet and a quilt and my partner came up with hundreds of little bites which we suspect came from the bed.
You can't drink the water but there was 10L bottle of drinking water available.
Also to watch out for:
The beams in the house are very low. Being 190cm I was constantly hitting my head and having to walk hunched over. Getting to the toilet was also quite challenging.
A lot of wildlife gets inside. We had a rather large lizard run across the floor and an enormous Huntsman on the wall. Given the regional area you probably have to expect this.
Overall it was ok but for the price I'd look elsewhere
