"This hotel is in an ideal location, in the city walls of Xi’an with plenty of food options nearby. Be aware there is another location also listed as ‘Eastern House’ but this is the correct place. Breakfast was not bad, a mixed selection with pastries, bread for toast and cereals as a Western option. Afternoon tea was an interesting mix of cakes, definitely worth trying and the tea was tasty. Overall great value for money, the reception staff who I engaged with spoke some English and were friendly. Highly recommend over some of the more familiar American chained brands."

"Location, Location and Location, the hotel is located at the central of the city and near to the major commercial area, restaurant and two traditional places, Bell Tower and Drum Tower. Hotel room is bright and comfortable. There is a large TV in the room. The bath and toilet area is separated. You have to bring your own exchange plug if you come from the US. The free laundry is very convenient to customers who stay more than 2 days. The hotel provides all laundry materials. The gym is well organized and have enough space for two walking machines and dumbbell. The breakfast is containing with local cursing and American food. There are 8 floors in the hotel, but no room is in the first floor. The check in desk is located at the second floor. If you have enough budget, and if you go to Xi'an at 1st time, this hotel is a wise choice."

"The hotel is old but it's generally nice and very close to the metro station and a market street, it's easy to buy your meals nearby with a lot of delicious food to offer! Coming from Singapore, Don't worry guys, in summer the AC works well! I can't say for other hotels but this one is good! Hahaha! Oh and one honourable mention! There is an tourism office located in the hotel itself, they are extremely helpful and can help you find the fastest way and book your tours and give you the best recommendations. They are very warm and very friendly! Look out for the lady named Zhou Rong! She is really helpful and friendly!"

"We had a really enjoyable three night stay at the Grand Mercure. Everything was more than we could have wished for. We were given a room upgrade on arrival. The staff were all really friendly and spoke a decent level of English. And the breakfast was really good. We would happily stay here again if we return to Xi’an."

"The hotel staff is great. I did not catch the woman's name, but she speaks English. When you arrive at the airport, take the elevator to the 2nd floor and exit to section 324, then call the hotel for a free shuttle. It will also take you to the airport when you leave. The hotel is not very far from the airport. It is an older building with 3 floors, so it only has stairs and they are small for people with big feet like mine. Also the hall way is narrow. While the hotel does provide some toiletries, it does not provide bottled water, so bring your own. Also, check your bathroom door, mine did not close so I did not take a shower for fear that the water might leak into the bedroom. The bed was comfortable enough, but it is a box spring, and no mattress, so if you like soft beds, this is not the place for you. It is in an area with many restaurants for dinner, but I did not find any place with breakfast items. The one main thing I did not like was loud talking at 1 a.m. outside my window. I opened it and told them to shut up, they were surprised, but did, other than that it was quiet."
