Unbelievable spot on the beach

We enjoyed everything about our stay, from the beach walks, to local shopping and dining. Luna's is a must for the Halibut fish and chips. Great time, thanks for having our family.

Wish I could live there!

Awesome location, view and nice rooms. I loved the big deck on the beach and spacious yard for our dogs. The hot outdoors shower, laundry room, and game room in the garage was a big plus. The home needs a little TLC but its great for a beach house. I would stay there again.

Heron Song vacation

The house is perfect, as my wife said, of all the vacation houses we have stayed in, every summer since 1998, this one was the closest to the ocean! The area between Newport and Yachats is an incredible part of the Oregon coast and Heron song adds to it!

Perfect for a rainy coast weekend

Adorable house with great beach access. The hot tub is back on the property so you aren't able to see the beach very well but it was covered and sheltered which was great for the very rainy weekend.

View is beautiful. It was nice to have beach access. Stairs are not suitable for seniors or small children. The house is older and is in need of a refresh & deep cleaning. The furniture is pretty worn & dirty.

Great place on the coast!

We really enjoyed our stay. It’s a lovely house with ocean views and a separate apartment with its own sun room. We loved the easy access to the beach for long walks and nearby Yachats for fresh seafood meals. The house was comfortable and we really enjoyed having our dogs there as well. Some of the furniture has a little wear and needs updating but overall the place was cozy for a largely rainy weekend with a few bits of sunshine. Thanks and we hope to return!

Great location, amazing view, beautiful beach!

This beach house was all it was suppose to be! Beautiful, great location, and amazing view! Everything was as it was described, the cleanliness was lacking but mostly dusty and some messes left from possible previous occupants. Overlooking this, it was such a fun and unforgettable experience!

Amazing views

Stayed here over spring break with the kids. Waking up and walking down the beach was so nice. The hot tub was great! The road to the house is very bumpy so just prepare for that when you turn off the highway in a hurry. If I ever get to back to the coast again we would definitely try and get this place again. 10/10 all the stars!

Beautiful ocean views!

The hosts request that you check in by phone with them on arrival, which was hard to do with no cell service and the landline had trouble getting through at first. But once we resolved that, the hosts were friendly and helpful. The home was fully stocked and comfortable. Would definitely rent here again!

Yachats rental

Great house on the shore line. It was great to have the steps that went right down to the beach. The location was great to all the areas that we visited. You should consider having a Keurig and more comfortable pillows. I regretted not bringing my own pillow. Replace the can opener that does not work and replace the burned out lightbulbs. Overall, we had a great stay.

Great location, limited kitchen

You're at the beach for the location, and this location was perfect. Quiet, on the ocean, great views from house, deck, and hot tub. My only issue is the kitchen. I don't like going away for a couple days and having to bring or buy spices and condiments. They had salt and pepper and that's it. If you're cooking, it was limited. The stove is in bad shape, toaster didn't work, frying pans were warped.

Best vacation yet

We stayed for 7 days/6 nights and it was perfect. The home is perfectly between Waldport and Yatchats. This is our 5th summer trip to the Oregon Coast and this home was by far the best. The main home has 2 decent sized bedrooms, one with a king (upstairs) and a queen downstairs. Nice family room, dining room and kitchen. The deck is amazing also. There is a mother in law suite in the rear of the property that has a bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and was perfect for our parents. The beach is literally 100yards from the slider door. Down about 20 steps and you're right there. Nothing really bad about this home. It was a great stay.

Needs TLC

Cute house, great location BUT this house needs some TLC and a deep cleaning! The smell of seafood and dog urine are strong in the main house and the apartment smells like mildew. There are no blinds or curtains in the apartment, so it's bright early mornings and no privacy. The stairs to the beach have seen better days, with no hand rail and a crack in the middle that small dogs can not navigate. We ended up walking down the road to the public access. It's a cute place but it could really use some repairs.

Overall an enjoyable stay

Excellent location, comfortable furnishings, lovely foliage in the yard. We felt that the rental company was more generous in their supplies than others. Lots of games and puzzles to choose from. We especially enjoyed relaxing and chatting in the cozy chairs in the living room area looking out on the ocean. Loved that it was a quick walk down to the beach! Some downsides were the two Queen beds were actually double beds, not queens as advertised. The railing around the porch hits right at the coastline view so you don't have the best view of the ocean from inside the house or on the porch unless you're standing. Windows in the detached apartment had no window coverings and neighbors can see in through all the beautiful windows on all four walls. Outdoor lights were finnicky and didn't stay on (both outside the main house and the apartment).

The location is amazing!!!

This house and property location is excellent!! It is just steps away from the beach. Outside is very maintained with a nice deck, clean hot tub and an outdoor shower with hot water!! Inside the house was the biggest issue. It was pretty dirty. Cobwebs, tons of dust covering the fan blades, dog hair, spilt coffee on the floor, dead bugs on the window ledges, grease all over the outside of the microwave, screens missing on most of the windows and old toilet seats. Fixing these things would be easy and pretty low cost. I will add that the bedding was very clean, the beds were comfy, and the upstairs room and loft is the best! Oh, and the grill is in good condition. I would stay here again in hopes that these problems would be fixed.

Lovely views and location

Location is perfect - right on the beach, with a nice sized yard overlooking the water and a private beach entrance. Lots of natural light in the house and little apartment. We ran into a few issues when it came to house supplies - for example we couldn't find any salt and pepper, firewood, lighter for the fire, or a hatchet to cut wood. Given that the last vacation home I stayed at was well stocked, and that the total price of our weekend stay here was pretty substantial, I figured we wouldn't need to bring these things. We ended up buying them in town, so it ended up being fine, but little things like that really make a difference. You really can't be upset with a view like that but a little love in the details goes a long way. All in all, it was a lovely weekend and we had a great time.

Lovely spot; recommend with some qualification

I just completed a tranquil 4-night stay at Heron Song. Overall, the place was great, and it was thrilling to see how close high tide gets. There were a handful of issues that cropped up, however. The WiFi connection was spotty, and I found myself constantly getting kicked off it on my cell phone and tablet. Although the yard is *mostly* fenced, there are enough gaps in it that I never felt comfortable letting my dog off leash. There was NO hot water in the downstairs shower. Lastly, the handrails on the stairway down to the beach (and depicted in the photos) are gone. The steps were uneven enough and sometimes far enough apart that I did not feel safe using the staircase. Fortunately, Oregon beaches are public property, so we had multiple options of getting to the beach. Although these were inconveniences, it was not enough for me to never return, as the location and views were amazing.
