Staff and cleaning crew are top notch. When you get there, they may let you know that you won’t be staying at the same building that the reception is located…remember, you’re in Amsterdam…buildings are only so wide and tall. They had us just about three doors down in a room that was better than the picture online. I will never stay anywhere but here when we come back. My wife and I could not have been happier with the accommodation. You will love the location, the romance of the architecture of the accommodation, and I encourage you to open the window and look out at the canal and watch an amazing city.

Bar and restaurant staff could be a bit more attentive. Outside patio/lobby I experienced an encounter with a mouse and large rat. I mentioned this to one of the front desk managers, not sure if anything was done about this. I was also a bit surprised that I was charge $15 Euro for a one hour late check out. I was pleasantly surprised I was given an early check in after traveling 24 hours.

The hotel is one of most unique I’ve seen, the decor is wonderfully detailed. However, sleeping was hardly easy. Our room faced the back of the building, and the noise from the restaurants below was very loud. The windows are not proofed for that type of noise. Last night was a party that ended at 2 am. At the same time, you can hear people walking upstairs in their room, and it’s really loud and bothersome.

Stayed one night in a double room with canal views. The hotel has real grandeur, though a little worn in places but that didn't take away from the experience at all. Staff were pleasant and helpful throughout. Food was a highlight, a lovely veggie lunch option in the lounge bar, and an excellent buffet breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. The style and feel of the place really suited us. Would definitely stay again.

Not a 5 start hotel overpriced, location is the only real value here
