Olbia-Tempio Kid friendly Holidays

As someone who has travelled to over 41 countries and stayed everywhere from some of the world’s finest luxury hotels, including Four Seasons, to simple three-star properties, I can confidently say that a hotel’s star rating is never what defines a great stay it’s the service. Unfortunately, my experience at Santa Pedra was one of the worst I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I was disappointed. The property has stairs throughout, yet there was no offer of assistance with luggage, despite this being a basic level of hospitality that many hotels provide. The rooms are incredibly poorly soundproofed. Every morning I was woken by noise from surrounding rooms, and on arrival I was greeted by loud drilling and construction work taking place on the property. I had not been informed prior to my stay that these works were occurring. I was initially told it would only be for one day, however the same loud banging and disruption continued each morning. The staff carrying out the work were also extremely loud and showed little consideration for guests trying to enjoy their stay. The service throughout my stay was equally disappointing. Staff were dismissive when asked simple questions, and despite requesting an iron on four separate occasions, it was never delivered to my room. Sadly, this stay fell well below expectations. Extreme slipping hazard as the pool overflows onto the main walkway. Someone will get seriously injured. “Private beach” is about 50 feet long and they allow screaming children from the absolutely packed public beach to run onto the private side. Kind of defeats the purpose of adults only. Absolutely nothing to do in the small town it’s located in. God forbid you bring food to your room you’ll be surcharged. Won’t even allow you to keep drinks in the mini bar only the ones they charge you for. If you want to go into olbia expect at minimum 50-80€ in taxi uber fees one way, it’s a 8 min ride max. Public transport is good until about 7pm when it stops. Some of the staff were exceptionally rude and acted as if it was a chore for them to do their job. Was travelling solo and was pretty much ignored by servers while couples were paid close attention to. Food was very poor. Breakfast outside of the croissants was not good. Had the captains burger for lunch and it was tasteless. Not only this but if you sit at a table to eat, at the hotel you are paying 200+€ euros per night, they charge a 2€ cover fee. Water is not safe to drink so they provide in room water free of charge. But only in the room not im the restaurant. The “private beach” is filled with wood chips and dirty, they also will not allow you to even put down a towel to lay on you must pay €25 euros for sun bed for half day. Absolutely not worth the money. Would never consider staying here again.

The hotel doesn’t have a drop off area or any luggage trolleys, pity the receptionist was curt, abrupt, non informative and dismissive. The hotel appears old and struggling to keep up with travellers requirements. The room was old cashing a good size and clean with aircon. The bathroom was big but the window didn’t work and was screwed open, I asked straight away for the window to be fixed and a handle put on the window as it was also missing. I was told the engineer would come but six days later nothing changed. I saw no management at all. The breakfast staff and cleaners were all delightful. The biggest problem was the pool was discoloured and cloudy and staff had put up a sign (probably weeks before) advising it was still safe to use. We and several others were not going to risk health conditions. The weather was 35 degree plus and we desperately need a pool. In the end we travelled about 15 minutes outside Castelsardo and found lovely beaches. I would recommend using a different hotel. The other reviews said about paper thin walls, this is true. Good point was the seaview and the breakfast.

Ideal location but get a car

A beautiful, spacious, and very well-maintained hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are large, comfortable, and spotless. The breakfast was excellent, and both the beach and pool areas were beautiful and relaxing. The staff was attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. The only area that could use some improvement is the gym, but overall we had a fantastic stay and would happily return.

Good

Good: Overall great stay. Staff was great. Food and drinks are adequate for the all inclusive price. Location is both near a beach and a bus stop. Bad: We had some water dripping from the ceiling in the corridor and in the toilet of our room, likely due to condensation from the AC, which was negative but didn't hinder us too much. The hotel also experienced several power outages every day of our stay, but power was out for just a couple of seconds each time (didn't affect us except for the power strip that had to be manually turned on again since it defaults to off every time). The beach nearby the hotel was not great, but during summer there's a bus service that can take you to other beaches nearby. The pool closes too early, at 6pm, so we had limited entertainment options during the early evening. Conclusion: I would stay here again.
