Great location if you want to been the south of the city - very close to the Amsterdam South train station. Overall, a nice clean hotel ideal for business travel with short stays. Only downside was that there was just 1 member of staff at the bar and took a very long time to get served. Its a shame you cannot order food to your room.

Lovely hotel in a great lovation

Staying at the Grand Hotel was truly one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. While it may not be the most modern or flashy property, its historic charm more than makes up for it. Our room was enormous, beautifully kept, and full of character. The location was unbeatable—perfectly placed to enjoy everything Amsterdam has to offer. What really made the stay unforgettable was the service. It felt like stepping back in time to when hospitality meant something special. The staff were available 24/7, arranging taxis, anticipating needs, and treating us with the kind of old-school attentiveness you’d expect from a personal butler. Their warmth and professionalism elevated the entire trip. The hotel’s amenities were just as impressive—the comfortable bed, a luxurious tub, the pool, and all the little details that made it easy to balance both business and leisure. I even had local friends visit, and they were equally impressed with the beauty and history of the building. I have no complaints—only gratitude. The Grand Hotel added an unforgettable touch of elegance and charm to my Amsterdam experience.

Be prepared for steep stairs! I knew there wasn't an elevator, but staying on the fourth (US fifth) floor was a pretty steep hike. The room and bed were comfortable, though the TV didn't have a signal. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but the shower had great water pressure and hot water. There wasn't daily housekeeping in the room, which was fine for me, but FYI for others. I loved the convenience of the location -- it was close to a lot and super convenient, but on a quiet canal and so was nicely peaceful at night. It was also a lot closer to Waterlooplein than it seemed on the map, so that was a nice surprise when arriving. The room would be tight for two people, but wasn't too cramped for just me.

This is not a true B&B. They have very limited facilities on site and do not keep their desk open for extended hours. It is a converted house, each floor is like a private suite. There are limited amenities in the suite too. Bring your own soaps/shampoos and be sure to ask for extra towels! It's in a very convenient location and is clean enough.

We loved everything about this property, including the 62 steps up to our room. The property was quaint and historical. It was so charming and absolutely beautiful. Everything was walkable or easily accessible via the nearby train station.
