With more than thousands of acres of parks and several lakes, Stillwater offers an abundance of outdoor activities. Try swimming, boating and other watersports on Stillwater's three principle lakes: Lake McMurty, Lake Carl Blackwell and Boomer Lake. Cycle, jog or walk in the trails around these bodies of water. Lake McMurty features 27 miles (43 kilometres) of hiking and biking trails. Ride dirt bikes at Area 51 Motocross Park and practice your swing on the city's golf courses.
Oklahoma’s humid subtropical climate means the outdoors can be enjoyed year round. Be prepared during tornado season between March and August, as Stillwater is located in an area known as “Tornado Alley” where storms are common. Obey warning systems and ask for your nearest shelter.
